I tend to go over to the whos online section and sometime, I see guests viewing a member profile. I have tried this myself without logging on on a different computer and I can't. What's up?

It shows that they are viewing a profile because they are at a member's profile, but are being shown the same error message you are.
Sometimes you will see them 'searching forums' and 'performing moderators' duties', all things they cannot do, they are just shown the error message.
