http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o308/davidmasseyfingernail/CNV00010.jpgWelcome to Kuwait! These barriers surrounded our hotel. Now the more astute and lonely of you might be wondering "where's that lovely young lady who played the piano?" or "who the fuck is Sideshow Bob sitting on the left?".
The answer is that Kuwait was our first stop, and Cordelia had to miss the first couple of days due to a family wedding, and the trumpeter, Huw, was doing something totally boring so they asked this Euphonium-playing runner-up called Ryan (from Belfast) to take his place on the tour.
Kuwait was dull as fuck as a country, partly due to it's strict law against the sale of alcohol. Bummer. But where can you get alcohol a plenty regardless of country? THE BRITISH EMBASSY, that's where. Luckily, we got invited. Here we are with the deputy ambassdor, or is it Leslie Phillips?

Cutting a lot of the boring/funny/interesting stuff out, basically we spent most of our time doing this kind of thing:

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o308/davidmasseyfingernail/CNV00008.jpggiving workshops at english-speaking schools. That basically entailed talking a bit, playing a bit, answering questions. One four/five year old boy put up his hand, only to tell me "I love you :D ". I broke down in tears. Actually though.
Here I am doing my thing in Oman (the best of the countries we visited):

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o308/davidmasseyfingernail/CNV00023.jpgAnd we gave four concerts, one in each country. In Oman the national english-language newspaper wrote of me "In last night's concert, David Massey showed his mastery of the guitar, a particularly difficult instrument to master."
Anyway there are more photos to be uploaded from a film yet to be developed, and there are some QUITE FUNNY/INTERESTING stories to tell that I feel would have made this already long post far too tl;dr so I'll just open the floor.

didn't mean to rain on your parade, though, congratulations on the opportunity. I spent some time growing up in the middle east so it's definitely a home away from home for me.
