Is anyone playing the multiplayer btw? How is it? I'm seriously considering getting a XBL Gold account if it's good.
I also have yet to try multiplayer since the single player has been so engrossing.
My copy of GTA4 came with a '1-month free' XBL gold card, but I don't know if that was only in the US version. Either way I allready have a gold account so if you want the subscription code I'll PM it to you.

I do find the driving a little slippy. After coming from Burnout Paradise, the cars in GTA4 almost feel like they are on ice, spinning out easily.

I agree with everything henke said, and I have to add that getting drunk in GTAIV is the funniest thing I've experienced in a videogame in a long, long time.

I just spent an hour battling it out with 3 other bad-2-da-bone urban warriors on the streets of LC in a good old fashioned deathmatch. I've been in grenade chucking matches in the junkyard. I've taken out a gangsta with a Uzi in a Beemer using nothing but my 9 milli. With my bazooka I've blasted SUV's storming at me at 90mph and had them do flaming sommersaults in the air to come crashing down behind me. I'm utterly delighted. :)
It might well be that I haven't played any form of multiplayer for a year or so but this shit is amazing. Fuck singleplayer, I'm playing mp from now on. Everyone who has this needs to get on it now. We should play as a team or something, yo! :D I'll be sitting my ass in front of the X-Box for the weekend playing GTA4 10:00-22:00 (GMT +2) saturday and sunday, unless real life gets in the way. My nick is "Henrk Hermans". Add me. Let's play.
MAD PROPS to heretic for hooking a brother up with a month of free XBL Gold

So compared to SA?
Us PC users only have that to console (gettit?) ourselves with until GTA4 is inevitably ported...

OK, the friend who told me about the scripting actually gave up on GTA IV due to the aforementioned scripting, lack of interesting stuff to do, wonky physics etc. and started playing Saints Row instead. He's reporting large quantities of fun.
In related news, Saints Row 2 has been announced for PC while Rockstar says GTA IV for PC is "very doubtful".

Your friend really needs to play beyond one mission. Yes, that particular mission involving the guy and your employer's daughter riding on the motorcylce is scripted. You can't kill him while he's on the motorcycle, because of the female he's riding with. A poor design choice, yes, but that's the only mission so far where I've encountered such a thing. I just played through another motorcycle chase mission where the idiot I was chasing crashed and fell off his bike within minutes. I'm not digging the attitude that you two have blown the game wide open and exposed it for something that it really is over one single mission.

Uh, he played it up to the beginning of the third island. I don't have my mind made up about IV anzway, I still want to like it if it does make it's way to the PC somehow. Just reporting.
