Well, let's say the V was good enough to enlist my interest, technical qiuality also helped.

Ah ok. Otherwise you sound like you hate yourself ;)

I can only compare this to IV and Vice City. I never finished III I don't think, though it was fun while it lasted. I got distracted for too long by RL and then moving house, new computer + reinstall and so on. It was good though, I've liked them all. It's a shame I never played San Andreas and I'm still planning to play the DLC for IV.
I really enjoyed Vice City, probably more than I should have because of the setting which I loved.
Anyway, so far this one has been the best imho. I'm not very far into it but it's great so far. faetal, just get it. There is no point messing about is there. If you get a PS3 just get the damn thing. You can get 3 and VC for your PC and IV for the PS3 later.
GET IT

I have 3, VC & SA. You should play SA by the way - it's glorious.
I think I'm going to get it on the PC when it eventually comes out. When I get a PS3 it'll be for Demon's Souls, MGS, ICO, SotC, etc...

I've been having a grand 'ole time futzing around in the game, playing tennis and flying drug runs, hiding from cops and murdering hookers, and doing as much side-stuff as I can while playing very little of the main missions, all while idolizing my new favorite hero, Trevor -- hell, I'm not even reading the thread too close so as to not spoil anything -- and now, I've gotten to the point where I can attend flight school. Holy shit, I HATE the helicopter. Rise, buffet, buffet, too slow, buffet, buffet, too fast, buffet, buffet, try to straighten out, buffet, buffet, fuck I'm in a spin, buffet, buffet, oh shit I just hit a building, buffet, buffet, there goes the gold medal, buffet, buffet, now the silver, buffet, buffet, no chance at a bronze neither, buffet, buffet, fuck it, nosedive, flames. I am turbulent with turbulence.
I figure it's just me being utterly inept at controlling things (though I do find the motorcycle to be incredibly easy to maneuver and handles very well) with the Xbox's controller, or I'm not doing something right. So, for some hints and tips, I watched a Youtube video on the helicopter training, and the bastard made it look easy. Incredibly easy. He even beat the gold medal by twenty-seconds. Mostly, I want to track down and murder the motherfucker, but a tiny little bit of sanity that still lingers in the recesses has set off a bell. I noticed that he had achieved gold medals in all the previous training courses, while I have a mix of gold and silver. For him, the helicopter was a smooth as butter, while for me it's like being stuck in a popcorn popper. So this has me wondering: because of the fact that completing flight school will reduce the amount of turbulence one experiences in game and make flying much easier, will achieving gold medals on all the previous courses reduce turbulence for the helicopter course? Am I having fits all this time because I slacked and said, "Silver is good enough"?
Can anyone confirm this before I go back and retrain on the previous courses?
Kisses

Ugh. Both San Andreas & GTA IV ended for me with mandatory helicopter bits. Not this one too :(
I'll never understand why a game as frivolous as the GTA games couldn't have helicopter handling more like Just Cause 2 / Saints Row 3. I don't play those games for super-realistic flight sim segments.

I don't get why people have so much trouble with the choppers. The controls haven't changed from Vice City, have they?
faetal on 9/10/2013 at 00:01
They were ridiculously hard there too, I just wasn't held up by having to fly one. That said, I haven't completed VC.
Seriously, play Just Cause 2, play SR3 and then tell my why GTA aviation gets on people's nerves. I play GTA games for arcade fun, not to learn how to handle aircraft.

Because the helicopter controls are mushy and they sway. Figure a 300lb man walking out of a house club, drunk as shit and high as a kite at 3AM and you've got some idea of how well the helicopter physics in this game work.

That and they've added a turbulence effect, so you can't just fly level in either a plane or a helicopter. You're constantly having to fight against random air shift. That's the most annoying thing about flying in V for me.
