Yes, there are RPG elements and you can also level up your dog by teaching him new tricks! (haven't done that yet) I spent probably a good half-hour at the shooting range last night doing most of the challenges, which I believe unlocked some new guns for purchase at the store.

Yes, but its only available as a pre-order dlc :(
Ooooh, that card with the blimp image in my box must've been the blimp DLC! I haven't flown anything yet tho. Last night I was running around in the wilderness at night when I came up over a crest and saw the shining lights of the airport in the distance. I crossed a huge-ass swamp to get to it but I only ran up to the chainlink fence and peered in at the lights. Not yet, I decided. I'm trying to pace myself. Tonight I might go and seek out a dirtbike, planes will come later.

I've felt frustration at the game being so low-res and heavy on the hardware more times than for any other current-gen console game. GTA V has the potential to be absolutely gorgeous and falls short because of the technical limitations of the console platforms (low framerate, 720p max, low-res shadow maps, blurry textures, awful aliasing, fog, very aggressive LOD management, pop-in).
This man is SMOKING CRACK! GTA V on the 360 is
stunningly gorgeous. A huge open world that both looks and performs great. Detailed indoor and outdoor areas without loading screens inbetween and complex physics systems running on all the people, cars, and things. Looking at it I couldn't help but think "the 360 was capable of this stuff
all along???? :U" It reminds me of Midnight Club 3 coming out at the end of the original X-Box's lifespan and making me wish someone had figured this stuff out years ago.

Have any of the rpg elements introduced in SA returned?
Most of them. No body weight or gun accuracy for individual guns. There's a Stealth skill that allows you to sneak around faster. Stamina no longer keeps you from running but drains health when you run out which is a really nice change.

I only played for a bit (had to get back to The Last of Us), but I thought the PS3 version looked very good, way better than that kind of hazy, blurry mess from GTA IV.
Gotta say though, the way over the top ghetto speak (N-word this, N-word that) was getting old for me real fast. I KNOW, it's GTA, but still. I did the first few missions, but I'm hoping I get a new character soon because it's going to drive me crazy insane.

Cool. I did like the weapon skill upskilling over time + eating leading to getting more fat etc + all the body building etc but that's fine. Look forward to playing the game at some stage.

Brethren and I in the same situation - GTA V and The Last of Us on the go at the same time. I don't get tired of ghetto speak though. Maybe it's because I don't hear it usually. I guess I'm not overly bothered by the word nigger when it's being used in this way either. It's not like they are insulting each other (as far as I've got so far anyway) and I don't fear the word enough that I have to write "n-word". I'm not insulting anyone when I type it after all, but ymmv.

The ghetto speak doesn't make me uncomfortable or anything, I just think it sounds ridiculous - it's just so completely over the top. I worked at a temp agency for years, and that's not how people "from the hood" talk normally. As far as the word in question - I feel pretty strongly that no white person should ever use that word in speech or print, in any circumstance. Not even if you're quoting someone or singing/rapping along. Maybe Quentin Tarrantino is partially to blame. I just find the word extremely offensive and I refuse to use it, ever.

Holy crap. Trevor's first mission is heart breaking. :wot:

I hadn't played The Lost & Damned, so while I recognised the face, I had no attachment to the character.
Still, it establishes just how completely nutso Trevor is, doesn't it?

Whilst I think people are far too sensitive about the word nigger (how are you supposed to ever discuss something if you don't actually say it? it's like discussing "cunt". You have to say it to talk about it don't you? X-word is a cop out imho. (
