How about a mod that makes the game NOT have horrible texture popin every time you swing your camera around?

It's why the bloody game is still sitting in my library, unplayed.

@henke: Any mod tips for me? I'm replaying GTA IV (Steam version) for the first time. Basically I'm not looking for major changes, more a few touch-ups here and there - without losing the fact that it runs very smoothly on my machine. (I.e. I wouldn't want to lose that in favour of hyperdetailed textures and the like.)

That is not normal behaviour for the game on either PC or 360, from my experiences. PEBKAC is most likely the cause here.

You might wanna check (
http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/icenhancer-135---enb-graphic-mod-f11005) this out Thirith. I tried it a year ago or something but couldn't get it working though. It makes the game look pretty amazing if it you get it working right though. :/

You mean you haven't even
tried it? You should, I haven't had any texture pop-in like that. Then again I'm mostly playing with the gamepad which naturally moves the camera around slower than swinging it with your mouse like that.

Any of you chumps want to ride or die MP (I only have Episodes, the exp. pack though) hit me up in Steam. I'll work on getting the main game.

I've always kinda shied away from ENB for
GTA IV, mainly because it seems to be a bit of a hassle to get it to work with the Steam version. Also, most of the ENB videos you find have tons of texture mods, so I've always wondered whether the game would look that much better with ENB only - and the texture mods mainly seem to import real-world brands etc., which I wouldn't want. Perhaps I should just read up on it some more and then give it a try.

Here's what I'm looking for, re: GTA4. I'm asking here because navigating the various mod sites is a goddamn nightmare.
I want nothing more than a mod that effectively unlocks the game's technical limits so I can use more than, what was it, 2gb of RAM?
I'd also like an Episodes version of a mod I used last time in which traffic dried up realistically at night in most parts of the city.

Google says to use the following command lines with launchGTAIV.exe:-
-norestrictions -nomemrestrict
EDIT:-
Apparently the above method to turn it off completely was removed in a later patch, so try this.
Quote:
1. The famous memrestrict and restrictApp combo.
Put the following code in your GTA Command Line:
Code:
-memrestrict xxxxx -restrictApp 0
Replace xxxx with your VIDEO CARD's memory (vram) multiplied by 1024 squared.
For example, if you have 512 megs it would be 512 x 1024 x 1024.
