thought I would start up a thread about this, anyone keen on getting it?
Once the physical copies are out (7th Dec), I definitely will be. Vice City and San Andreas are much loved games for me with a huge nostalgia factor. I own the steam versions but would like an updated graphics and controls version I can play on the ps4 on a big screen.
Downsides - they have absolutely gutted the VC radio stations due to licensing issues.(which I know isnt a recent thing, but still one could have hoped with Rockstars mountain of cash they could have reinstated some of the tracks)

I'm definitely curious, but looking at my back catalogue, I think I'll wait with getting them. I like replaying games such as these, but at the same time I have so many games I've not even played once. If anything, I'll either wait till these are much cheaper, or I'll eventually get them on console, so I can easily play them on a big TV.

Looking at my back catalogue is like an exercise in nihilism for me

Same here, but lately I've had less time for gaming, which in turn has helped me be the tiniest bit less eager to click on that "Buy" button.

actually reading a bit more about these it seems they are pretty shit ports with a heap of issues so maybe not for me

Yeeeah I've been watching the backlash on twitter and it does indeed look rough around the edges, in particular the underwhelming rain effects and lack of distance fog which makes everything look very basic when you're flying. Rockstar even pulled the PC versions of this from stores.
Y'know, I'm not one to get butthurt about companies putting out underwhelming products. Generally I assume they are doing the best they can but time and budget reasons mean they sometimes come up short. But Rockstar have all the goddamn money in the world and there's really no reason why this would have to be released NOW instead of spending another 6 months in development. Things like this and that GTA Online "extra 5 minutes loading" bug which went unfixed for years and years until a fan fixed it paints a picture of a company that just doesn't give a shit.

They also pulled the classic games to make way for this, so unleash hell IMO.

In retrospect, erasing a low-res confederate flag on one minor character in one game wasn't that big of a deal, huh?

I didn't want to touch this to begin with. I mean I already have the originals & if I'm going to replay them (or speaking of VC, play it for the first time) it's going to be the original versions. I never really jived with the logic of re-releasing a game after like 1997, i.e., for any reason except modern rigs literally can't play the originals ... for the same reason I wouldn't watch a colorized old black & white movie. It's just not really the same game/movie anymore.
Gutting the music is a pretty massive hit too. What's the point of driving on those streets if I can't take it to the limit, LIMIT!!?
But even all that said, I'm still a little surprised how much this wears its suck on its sleeve. Damn, son.
