STALKER was and is one of the best games for me.
i have high hopes for Clear Sky. but I think that the CEO sounds like an arrogant asshole and the statement is NOT true. they did not achieve to create a bugfree game with good customer and patch support and did not manage to include the announced features. the brilliant mod-community is one of the reasons STALKER was replayed by me so often.
the multiplayer never even was played to become a failure, that's how bad it is done.

If you're referring to the control scheme, then millions of people would disagree with you.
It's not like they have a choice in the matter.

Oh the biting wit!
As if this very thread wasn't about cross platform development!!

You're completely missing his point. The majority of people play games on consoles instead of PCs for whatever reasons and thus don't get to choose between gamepad and mouse/keyboard.

....sad times....

It took you a while to figure that out.

It's funny.
Developers like GSC talk excitedly about gameplay features they want to add. On the flip side Levine bragged about a team of guys hired just to work on the water effects (and they didn't even work it into the gameplay!). Console games favor production values over interesting gameplay, this is what consolitis means to me.
When Stalker's good it blows away Half-Life 2, BioShock, ect AAA game in terms of gameplay. That's all that matters to me. There was a time when a game like Deus Ex got away with 90s but now these types of games hit the 70/80s. Gameplay took the backseat.

And will be pretty much non-existent in the end. Bioshock was so dreadfully boring that I had to force myself to finish it after the Andrew Ryan encounter. STALKER is a lovely exception from these big changes gaming is going through, I'm on my 3rd runthrough and it is just as addicting as it was originally.

Aja's console fanboyism aside, and my not buying into the "omg it's on console it's gonna suck now" panic aside, I do believe that Stalker's interface + console = rofl
Unless they allow for mouse and keyboard or something like that, but I don't see that ever fucking happening. Stalker's interface is a classic case of an overwrought PC UI that relies too much on the mouse. Hell, I'm still learning little stuff I didn't know I could do with the PDA and I've had the game almost a year.
