Hay guise theys making thems pee-cee games on that shex-bawx 360 it's gonna suck lol.
Seriously, just because it's xbox or playstation or pii (see what i did there?) or whatever doesn't mean it'll suck. Stop bitching and get over it.

All I want is for them to port the orignal STALKER. I can't run it on my computer.
And for christ's sake, Xbox has nothing to do with poor quality. Orange Box proves that PC games can be ported properly; it's all on the developer's shoulders.
HL2 is MUCH easier to port, I'd even say it's just perfect for porting to XBox. It's a linear shooter with chapters separated by relatively small loading sections and each of them comfortable fits X360's RAM. Stalker requires much more calculations, optimization to run without stutters (if it's possible at all), and RAM.

Yes, the awesomeness and complexity of Bioshock are a true testament to how great a game developed for a console then ported to PC can be. It's not the 'quality' that worries me. It's the idiotic tendency to dumb down games in order to make them appealing to the hordes of console gamers that does. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is not a 'nice' and 'pleasant' game. It's difficult and it's easy to give it up shortly after starting it. And that's precisely one of the reasons why I like it. It gives me a sense of accomplishment when I play it. Unlike Bioshock, for instance.

my sentiments EXACTLY. I get sick of the console fear. We have ALL played absolutely AMAZING console games at one time or another, they are more than possible...they are a reality.
It is scary to be a gamer that limits himself to one platform. I have been there, and when I went back and bought an XBOX, re-examined it's library, and used it as intended ie: SHOCK: to have fun...I liked it. A LOT.
Give them a chance. They may decide to just make quick, dirty console games to make a few bucks in order to fund their future, dreamy PC games.

Except for the whole "being an FPS" thing.

Yes. Actually, RE4 is in my TOP5 games list as well as SH2.
However, Stalker type of games just doesn't fit for existing consoles. How is it possible to port Stalker properly if it requires minimum 1Gb of RAM? Do you propose to separate Stalker maps (not that big already) by smaller loading zones like Oblivion? I think I saw that somewhere, don't think it worked :)
Plus, Stalker is a game that requires precise shooting, miss head too often and you're dead, console controllers are bad for that.

of course xbox games are brilliant. but they are made for xbox only.
they are designed to mask the console's limits and they work.
PC games are made to mask the PC's limits.
ports or paralell developments always falls flat on the PC.
right way to do it:
develop a superior version and then grade it down: is not being done.
wrong way:
develop with lowest common demeanor, then tackle on features depending on platform:
that's how it's done.
e.g.
BioShock DX10 render path. should have invested that time in the last levels and configuration of the PC and releasing an editor.
and FPS shooter with autoaim are ridiculous. I would never buy STALKER or HL2 or Crysis on an console:

try that with your usb XBOX controller.

I'm not a part of the ALL crowd, having never owned nor played a (good) console game before. Unless those roms count.

Almost the same here. The only console games I liked was MGS1-2, but mostly for the story.

I'm also a console owner, having bought the PS2 shortly after it came out. During all this time, I think I've bought less than ten games for the PS2, and countless games for the PC. I think that the only games I actually enjoyed in the PS2 were PES and The Getaway. I don't have anything against the console games, I simply find that they tend to be less complex and easier, and therefore less addictive to me. There are some games that are more suitable for consoles, like sports simulators, and others that are more suitable for the PC, like FPS. I really can't imagine a game like Stalker in a console, and if it ever came out for that platform, I'm pretty sure that it would be developed as mothra said.
