Looks like you could filter out a lot of that by blocking new members from posting threads with titles that match "free*" until they've been registered for a day or two. Or if that's too general, "free*[x]*", where [x] can match "game", "nintendo", "nokia", "DVD", "$", "playstation", or "gift".

To be honest I'd rather leave them with obvious thread titles than force them to become more creative. Makes it easier for us to clean up and everyone else to avoid the threads.
