The member profiles have a section which usually says "[Member username] is not a member of any public groups". What are these groups? Can anyone create them or join them or do we need something specific? The User CP doesn't seem to have anything about them, either.
I reckon having groups in here would be quite bizzare, though. Beware the coming of the cooking group! :p

That much is apparent, yes :) What I was asking is what they are, though? Some sort of sub-forum or something like that? :confused:

They are just usergroups with custom permissions, access to certain forums, ability to have avatars or whatever.
Normally each group has a "leader" and people ask that leader if they can join the group etc etc. Not much use on most forums, I guess.

From what I gather it's more used at Mod dev. forums where theres a public section for discussion and private forums for developers.

There is the special TTLG elite group, but you have to be invited into that one.
