So the Grim Fandango remake is out.
RPS has a <a href="http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/01/27/grim-fandango-remastered-review-pc/">review</a>.
<a href="http://residualvm.org/">ResidualVM</a> has a new release for people who own the original.
GOG are running a <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/contest_grim_fandango_fan_art_project_40d05">fan art competition</a>, which will probably be fun to watch even if you don't take part.
I wish I had time to drop everything and replay it.

And I still don't understand the logic behind the ticket stub puzzle.

What about the puzzle's logic escapes you, bob_doe_nz?

Just how you get the
date and times to input into the printer. That was the only part of the game that really got me.

One guy yells at you about it not being "kitty hat day" because it's on Tuesday(iirc). Picture shows people wearing kitty hats. The memorial to Sanspoof says that he was killed when the zeppelin crashed on its maiden voyage on {specific date that I can't remember}, zeppelin is shown in the picture as well. Those two clues give you the day and date for the ticket stub.

Grim Fandango remastered is on sale (-66%) at GOG for the next 10 days. Is it any good? I never got the chance to play the game back in the day, but since people always seem to praise it, I feel like I should play give it a try. However, a lot of the user reviews are quite negative...
"good story, terrible controls"
"really poor remastering"
"riddled with bugs"
"very buggy!"
"Remastered? Well... Rebugged? Oh yes!"
"BUGS BUGS AND MORE BUGS"
"I think this is one of the games, that haven't aged all that well"
"Hey Tim, stick your games and sock puppets up your a$$"
So, what do you think? :D I know they're just user reviews that can't always be trusted, but I don't feel like spending any time on a buggy half-assed remaster that hasn't aged well.

The game still manages to get a 4.5 out of 5 rating on GOG and 89% positive reviews on Steam. You can always find someone who has an issue with a game if you go looking for it and while this one may have general issues it does seem that the majority likes it regardless.

Especially since I very much suspect that in this case, people's grievances are less with Grim Fandango than with Tim Shafer and Double Fine, and at least some of those grievances are, well, blown way out of proportion by those aggrieved.

I never completed it due to scratched CD, but it was one of the few PnCs I liked back in the day. No idea about the remaster, but the game itself is solid.
