Shamefully, this thread was mostly inspired by the potential for a silly title. In fact I'm far too young to have ever really heard his show - BUT, he seemingly "invented" the chart rundown (which is a bit special) and introduced "not 'arf" to a grateful nation.
Also, his retirement home supposedly had to keep telling him to turn down the Iron Maiden records.
RIP, pop pickers.
