I must have played Deus Ex 20 times by now and I have no memory of Max Chen ever standing on a rooftop. Can someone explain?

Well you are not meant to get to the roof top and see him. I am not sure why. Someone said it had something to do with removing him later and regenerating him at the required place when needed. So in the mean time they just hide him there. However I wasn't sure what he meant by that. Here is a picture of the same thing which I took a while back.

Hm... HOW do you get to that roof?
I haven't snooped all round HK, but I didn't find an entrance... so, is it hidden well (I hope it's not obvious :p) or playing with the Editor?

I do know that each and every time I play Deus Ex I find something new, amazing at it seems. and I bet there are still things I haven't stumbled across.
The last time I played, (about a week ago) I neglected somehow to get the password for the bum at the subway station so that I coudl get the telephone key code to get to the underground lair. He kept asking JC Denton "what's the password" and Denton finally said "Xyzzy".. I thought how strange.. I never knew he said that....
Then at Asusboards a few days ago, I found out that Xyzzy is actually a password used by a character on an old Dos based game from yesteryear (I think it was called "Adventure 1. ) or something. I have to check that out! But its a nice geek piece of trivia :)

How to climb buildings and meet Max Chen
The technique you use is called LAM-Climbing and here's how it goes:
1) Collect at least two LAMS or other type of grenade;
2) Walk up to a wall and place the grenade on it;
3) Jump onto the grenade;
4) Crouch and place another grenade;
5) Jump onto second grenade;
6) Reach down and retrieve first grenade;
7) Repeat.
It's amazing the places you can visit with this easy method :D

Hm, couldn't you maybe also use arrows (at least for the first few steps)?

Aw. :) I actually tried that today, and it turns out to be even easier than I thought it would be. You only need to jump onto the first grenade you place (btw, it doesn't matter what type you use - LAM, gas gren., etc.), after that, just crouch, place the next grenade at "eye level" (centered view), and move forward a little (towards the wall). JC does the "hopping" for you, even though you're not jumping at all! As stated previously, pick up the first grenade, and repeat. A great alternative to crate stacking, especially if there aren't any crates in the immediate vicinity. Works like a charm. :)

Or you could do it the lazy way and use cheats to fly up there.
