well, i just played Operation Na Pali for UT so i have a few ideas from that. the hardest level in the game involved a bunch of cybernetically altered Nali (a peace loving species). now, that got me thinking. what about a huge factory of gunther-style Mech-Augs. like maybe a resistance group that does not know how to make nano-augs just made a bunch of mech-augs in bulk.

What, like the droid factory in Episode 2? Holy cow.
(J.C walks to the edge of metal ledge, and looks down)
10,000 Gunthers: "Not for the killing of agent Navarre, no I will not forgive."
J.C: "Hey! I wanted to ally with her, but NO, the stupid game wouldn't let me! I had to kill her!"
10,000 Gunthers: "You will die!"
J.C: "Piss off and die, Laputan Machine!"
Lol, that would be the funniest screen-shot EVER - killing thousands of Gunthers simultaneously just with their Kill-phrase!

I have to say that so far I'm farely unimpressed with the leaked-so-far monster line-up for Deus Ex 2 (not the ideas from you guys, they're great, keep em coming).
All we have is:
"A monkey with grenades" (lol)
"Fish, that attack you when you're damaged" (easy to avoid)
Oh, and looking at some coloured drawings in my PC Gamer mag, the Karkians are now spikey (this does actually look quite cool) and the guard dogs have metal jaws.
Big deal - come on Ion Storm, if you wanna beat Unreal 2 then your going to need more, and more diverse, enemies.

Please tell me this isn't true. They are actually! putting in a monkey that follows you around and lays lams!! Please no. Tell me its just a joke, damn i wish it were apirl.... I mean seriously they aren't putting that in right? RIGHT? :nono:  :weird: :tsktsk:
And anything else that can portray my utter disbelief at this...
one_gundam_war on 17/7/2002 at 14:26
i think it is a joke. but you have to admit, it would be cool. one of my major tactics is to get into a gun fight, then back away and take cover. now imagine if you had to watch out for LAMs (my current anti-grenade strat is to run like hell.)
Dragonclaw on 17/7/2002 at 16:04
Sorry, no.
I don't think it would be cool. Lam-carrying monkeys remind me too much of silly video games.
And, IF they are in the game, I demand:
[GTA3]
Real Life Monkeys with Springs for Legs!!!
[/GTA3]

Hmm......I demand a giant version of Dougle, the ace canine hero from
"The Magic Roundabout" - circa the 1960's.
And I want enemy soldier types to look like the troopers in Resident Evil (the movie).
tripwood on 24/7/2002 at 10:03
what's all this about monsters? Deus ex is not a monster game, i think too much would take away the charm.. :tsktsk:
but evil fish sound good though, it's always a thrill to feel in danger even in the water. it's always ... too safe there.
King Ronald on 24/7/2002 at 16:57
(ignores tripwood who somehow fails to see the point of the thread)
Actually, you COULD have zombie-types swarming around - civillians or animals or whatever who are infected by various nanobiological virus's, and are all malformed and drip goo, and FEAST on HUMAN FLESH.........muwuhahahahaha!
(flash of lightning, crackle of thunder)
Come on, it would be great, even if it was only used once, in a sort of "scarey" level, like a set of run-down housing tenements in the now-obliterated New York of the future.
BadNacho on 24/7/2002 at 22:59
How about pigeons that drop LAMs on you from above:angel:
