Sorry for the ressurect but you don't have a hair on your ass if you don't like this movie. I don't think I can say it any more succintly than AR Master but I just have to say the following.
Bullshit David. I know damn well guys in Europe aren't all busy knitting tea cozies. The tough gruff old bastard with a heart was paracticly invented in the UK. If you weren't raised in a petri culture by rubber glove wearing scientists with tongs you know damn well you can relate. Fuck the language and false distance used to gain it by the bigotry. Walter had no distance. If you can't see that you are a dumbass.
It was a movie of redemption. Every damn thing led to the end as perfect as can be. At the end of a mans life he weighs the good he has left to do against the bad he has to atone for. Life is not perfect and no end is good but to pick your ground and decide for yourself is as good as you can make it.
Thao was branded with that mans love. Many of us are by those funny old assholes who show us the way to manhood. We learn not to pay attention to the way they say things as much as the way they show us how to love. But the way they say things is goddamned magnificent if we just back off from the pc bullshit and pay attention.
I've rewritten this a half dozen times but it boils down to being able to recognize heart and can't nobody force you on that account. If this doesn't play in Europe then it aint the movies fault.

I'm too wore down anyway. Stayingup late drinking with Dit in from Dallas and teaching Dalt to mow in concentric circles because he wanted to earn some money means this is an early evening. Heh movies. Yeah, that's important.
