Could you be more specific? I've never noticed any significant flaws in the D3D renderer.

In my (limited) experience, it gives smoother/faster rendering, sharper detail, and the HUD elements are just... cleaner. I wouldn't have said anything was wrong with DirectX beforehand, but I wouldn't go back to it now.
