...or the <A HREF="http://classic.winamp.com/plugins/detail.jhtml;$sessionid$A5V21YYXSADC25YAAAARC0I?componentId=49627">appropriate</A> WinAMP plugin. After all, UMX files are a lot smaller than their MP3 conversions.

I bought the GOTY disc at EB for $9.99, but it didn't come with the music disc. Has anyone compared the soundtrack music tracks with the .umx files included in the game? Has any remixing or other modification been done, or is it exactly the same as what I get with Modplug? do They seperate or expand the normal/action loops?

I would like to get an answer to that as well.

A few of the 30 tracks on the CD are remixed versions of the original UMX's; others are as far as I can tell, completely identical. I think the most notable change is in the Main Menu Theme--the CD version has heavier percussion and new instruments for the melody--it almost sounds like a brand new piece (personally, I like the CD one better). The UNATCO theme also has some new instruments and percussion that I like. One change I don't like is in the CD's version of Endgame 1 (New Dark Age). From 0:17-0:30 of the original file, a guitar-like instrument plays a brief interlude that's completely removed from the CD version.
Hmm, off the top of my head, those are the major changes I noticed, though I might be forgetting some, and there might be others I haven't noticed at all.
Edit: Didn't see your question about Action loops. Most of the tracks on the CD are the "normal" ambient level music that just loop once and eventually fade out, but three are action cues: Airfield Action, Paris Action, and Ocean Action.
