Got a little Problem with Ondres Nerano... - by Sworddancer

Hoi Guys
Been playing Morrowind for a week now - and i am already addicted to it *lol*
But there's a little problem around:
I play a customized combat/stealth hybrid (so-to-say a longblade-assassin) with specialization on stealth, and so in the beginning i did lot of stuff for the thiefs guild to get my rep.
one of the quests was getting the key to Ondres Nerano's Manor. I got it by taunting Nerano himself and killing him.
The problem is: i now found my home in the Redoran house, but Athyn Sarethi now wants me to fight s duel with Ondres Nerano...
Well, this guy is already dead...
Any ideas how to fix that?
I already paid the money for the stronghold, so at the moment i want to stick with Redoran, and i have to gain reputation. How can i do so, when i am stuck with the quest?
thanks
Sworddancer

I think I did that too.
There's a way around it though.
I just forgot what it is. Maybe with the editor.

Have you just tried talking to Athyn Sarethi again, if he's already dead the quest should be labeled as done to the NPC.

Yes, I already did - seems as if the news has not spread to Ald'rhun ;)
Any other possibilities to work that out? I don't know how to handle the editor...

Dang. I killed him too. Saved beforehand though.
How else can I get the key? Pick-pocketing yeilds nil and I don't want to take on the Cammona Tong guys.

It actually isn't hard to take out the thugs at the Coundil Club. You just need sufficient speechcraft to taunt them into attacking first. The smith and the thief downstairs are the easiest to taunt. Don't bother with the savant; work on one of the female thugs with him. I finally did that after trying over and over to pickpocket Nerano--he's just too alert, so it really is easier to give Varro(sp) his bloodbath. Just don't harm the club owner. Then you can get the key and some other useful stuff.
Or if you want to bring back Nerano:
PlaceAtPC "npc name",1,20,1
You just need to substitute "ordres nerano" in the name. He'll probably be pretty mad when you bring him back from the dead. I don't know how to set an NPC's disposition.
Hope that helps.

1) To make it so he doesn't attack you on sight, do this before you 'clone' him:
"ondres nerano"->setfight 0
2) To make him want to talk with you, just cast a decently powerful charm spell on 'im and then 'Persuade' him a bit.

with the consolecommand.
And I have I trick for getting the key. I playe a thief that don't wear weapons (fight hand-to-hand) so I just knocked ondres down and took the key. Then left without killing him.
ohh, and the smiley is just there cause I like it
