(
http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/12/30/googles-tipping-point/) Saw an interesting article today, has Google grown to big for us to love it as we did? Maybe, or is it just we don't like anything that is too big, or perhaps we like the small geeky, cult companies that make us feel we are cutting edge. Perhaps it would be prudent for Google to shred the umbrella and let the offshoots sprout without the Google brand but still integrate within the Google community.

Regarding searching for competitor's sites or services THROUGH google and getting google's own first - well duh. If I want an MSN or Yahoo service I will go to (
www.msn.com) (yes I don't need to google to find that one) or (
www.yahoo.com)
Anyone with a mite of intelligence should know that they'll have to sift through search results from
any engine and take them with a pinch of salt. As we already know, the way google indexes pages is not really indicative of their worth, but mostly by democracy.
SAFETY IN NUMBERS LOL well mostly yes, but I hope the world isn't ONLY JUST waking up to the fact that not everything on the internet is totally correct and bias-free.
GOOGLE, THAT LAST GREAT BASTION OF TRUTH AND JUSTICE -- HAS IT BEEN LYING TO US (slightly) ALL ALONG?
I clearly have vested interests here, I use Gmail.

I'm looking forward to this, using wikipedia more than google lately. I can't seem to find easily on google but external links from wiki happen to be more accurate.
Though I've read about google's ranking system, I still don't get it:confused:

the googles do nothing.. to me.
I use both that and yahoo, more google because it has leet algorithms. But you know, both search engines are inneficient, but they're as inneficient as going to the library, it's hard to be unhappy about the results when there's nothing to contrast them to.
You know it's funny, I was reading the new project for the wiki search engine, it sounded a lot like an idea I had about a year ago when Google gave me crap as well. Some topics it can't.find.anything. I wanted to learn about famous crusades men, you figure out what I got.. Anyway that led to rediscovering Yahoo, Yahoo has more human input and is less reliant on algorithms, does wikiasari have room?

That first article is far too critical. If I search "yahoo calendar" through Google, what is the first result that comes up? Why it's calendar.yahoo.com. But wait, what's that in smaller font just above the first result? It's a tip (not a search result) asking the user if they might want to try Google's own calendar. What is the big fucking deal?

Interesting link there - especially Google X.

Google X was a project released by Google Labs on March 15, 2005 and rescinded a day later. It consisted of the traditional Google search bar, but it was made to look like the Dock user interface feature of Apple's Mac OS X operating system.
I found a modified mirror that looks set to replace google.com for me, providing I can remember it in the morning:
