Good read from the guy who wrote "Fight club" - by Mr. K.

Firstly, you're not separating "well written" with "I don't like reading this content so it sucks".
Secondly, you seem to have judged Fight Club without reading or seeing it, so congrats on that, too :)

I feel a little urge to vomit, by the way.
So at what point did you decide to stop reading? Was it somewhere around the part around "pegging", or the did you read all the way the part about how Arabs "get their rocks off"?Perhaps you glanced over the part about why that one kid had to lower his career expectations? Or maybe you read all the way to the part about the dreaded pool snake? Seriously, just what the hell did you expect?
Oh, and be sure to watch a movie before you decide to comment on it.

However, my thoughts went into the same general direction when I heard of the story of "Fight Club". People just fighting each other because they're bored, or tired of their lives?

I have a bad reaction to that story, but only because I was reading it while on the toilet and, during the reading of the story, my piles prolapsed or something. So it's more of a bad association thing then gross-out over the actual content.
I dunno... he's an okay writer. "Fight Club" was dreadful, but I enjoyed "Choke". A lot of his other stuff is just so-so. I didn't get through "Haunted", only because I found it pretty dull. If you're looking for "edgy" fiction, look elsewhere.

Classic Sypha. I love it.

Chuck Palahniuk writes precisely like I did in grade 11.
Haha I'm pretty sure I had that exact thought when reading "Fight Club".
Which is a shame because the movie is fantastic.

That's not quite what it's about. Watch the movie, it's tons more enjoyable than the book.

the power of this story is how vulnerable it leaves you feeling after you have read it. it changes your psyche and your outlook on everything, if only for a few hours

I really can't understand how anyone could like to read about such ideas.
i haven't read the book. but i watched the movie. it was very meaningful to me. here's what i got from it:
if you get rid of everything in your life, if you get rid of all desires, if you stop caring about anything, then you no longer want anything or need anything and you live a less unsatisfying life. they didn't fight because they are bored. they fought because they didn't give a FUCK about anything. the fighting is more of an affirmation that they don't care about anything, not even pain.
in my eyes, this whole philosophy is not unsimilar to buddhism - ridding yourself of desires in an attempt to reach nirvana. and they created a whole religion on that.
fight club is powerful to me i guess because it resonated so deeply within me. i have been terminally depressed 1/2 of my life. often i have escape fantasies of dropping everything in my life, all material possessions, all sense of place, going somewhere completely foreign, forgetting all friends and family and everything, and just being vagrant.... all this to avoid the fucked up reality that is my life.
and i often want to beat the fuck out of someone and get the shit beaten out of me in the process.

I suggest you rewatch it and pay special attention to the THIRD ACT.
For crying out loud people the movie doesn't end when he sets up Project Mayhem.
