Yep, after this even the nullo story is tame.

I'd just like to say that Fight Club was a mediocre book and Palahniuk's writing style is like pulling teeth.
I would have to agree. Just try and read
Haunted. It's dreadfully boring...

That's why we have people like Ian Banks!

More like pulling a tire around behind you. I have never seen anything "edgy" or "shocking" or "visceral" about Palahniuk. I even give Dan Brown an extra point over Chick Palahniuk because Dan Brown at least has the occasional really good idea that he fails miserably at writing down instead of a Not-Entirely-Shit idea that he fails miserably at writing down.
Chuck Palahniuk writes precisely like I did in grade 11.

Wow. Wow.
Just wow. That was quite... wow.
EDIT: The gut scene image won't leave.

I think it was fairly good. I hope Haunted is half as good as his other book Survivor.

Also, it's bullshit, and he ripped the story off a real-life case
Has anybody actually confirmed this?
I know when it came up last time I took a stab that that (the Valerie Lakey case that John Edwards made his career on) was his inspiration, and unless told otherwise I think it's a safe assumption, but I haven't seen anything that says it one way or the other.

I read the story. Missed it last time. Felt kinda sick afterwards. The Valerie Lakey case? Even worse. Thanks for the uplifting thread, Mr. K. Not to mention the fact that. Palahniuk's writing is annyoing. I've never seen Fight Club. But it must be very powerful.

A good read?
I think this is just a piece of sh*t. Nothing else.
I read about the first half, then glanced through the rest and read the end part. The idea behind this is plain sick, I don't see what exactly is written well here, and I am not interested just a tiny little bit in reading the parts I glanced through. I feel a little urge to vomit, by the way.
However, my thoughts went into the same general direction when I heard of the story of "Fight Club". People just fighting each other because they're bored, or tired of their lives? Stupid, idiotic, primitive - and not worth paying for, at least not for me.
I really can't understand how anyone could like to read about such ideas.
