i have heard that DX2 will also be running on the Unreal Warfare/UT2k3 engine. now, that engine allows support for vehicles. so that means there is a good chance there might be vehicles in the game.
even better, it allows for realistic body physics. much more beautiful gunfights. and this pretty much comes default. so let's say you are fighting on a bridge over a large mountain/hill like slope. you shoot the guard, and he flips over the rail. he then lands on the ground and starts rolling down the mountain. leaving blood and kicking up dust everywhere. or let's say you have to take out some very strong augmented opponent. rather than unloading 2-3 GEP rockets at them, just lay a single LAM. they trigger the LAM, and get launched into the nearby vat of acid (lol).
so can anyone comfirm if DX2 uses the new Unreal engine?

Clearing up a few things...

I know that DX2 is running on some kind of Unreal engine, but my knowledge here is limited - I wouldn't know an Unreal engine if it bit me on the ass. Does anyone know for sure exactly what engine? All I know is that light and sound are being vastly redone.

There won't be any vehicles in the game. Ion Storm has stated that they wouldn't suit DX2's "claustrophobic indoor environments".

DX2 rag-dolls bodies upon death, meaning that they will go limp and yes, they will roll down hills/staircases/whatever.
As for other physics stuff, DX2 (and Thief 3, for that matter) are using (

C'mon guys, its been well known for quite some time that both Thief 3 and Deus Ex 2 are being made with a heavily modified version of the Unreal Warfare engine.
You can read all about it at the following links:

thx twisty. I wanted to say the same things, but I would never have been able to articulate them that pacifisticly. ;)

I reckon that a sticky thread should be put up here about the engine being used in Deus Ex 2, so that it clears any misconceptions that newbies might have or for people who have just started to take an interest in the game.
