The 196.75 drivers released today work with ddfix in all dark engine games.
Tested under both Win7 32 bit and Win7 64 bit on a 8800GTS and a GTX-260 SLI setup respectively.
Which Is a pleasant change from 195 which didn't work at all, and 196.21 and 196.34 in which ddfix/Thief 2 crashed when you tried to start a game, while ddfix/Thief gold worked fine. (which meant they were on the right track)
It also no longer crashes the original "King's bounty"
So, no more 186.18 for me... Which was the last version in which all the games I play actually ran.

I think it's still highly dependent on the user - mine worked fine with 196.21, for instance, in XP x64 with a 7950GT. I think I read somewhere the problems have been only with the 8-series onwards. I'd be interested to hear if it works for everyone else.
Still, it's great news it seems to work with the latest drivers :)

Well, XP is a whole different beast from 7 - and XP x64 isn't even the same beast as XP (since XP x64 is just a gutted server 2k3)...
But the hardware could be a good deal of it too - reminds me of advice I used to give a decade ago when I had my own mom&pop whitebox building company. "Stay one generation behind bleeding edge, that way you know the drivers are mature"
Unfortunately that's been less and less true with these 'unified' drivers from all the manufacturers.
