Do you really need to use wrench as much? There is enough of ammo in game, if you don't waste them. And if you really have to go HtH, extra swings don't take extra ammo, so you can get same results just by some extra swings. So I don't even bother to take that +35% to melee perk.
I have reached the Body of the Many without firing a gun even once, so if I can spare myself to do any weapon skill upgrades to use on more essential ones like research (for crystal shard) or agility, endurance, etc. instead; then I will.

That's possible to beat a game without using a single cybermodule, but I don't see much sence in that unless you want to make your life hard. Stats are not remotely as useful as weapon skill. Weapon skills save your ammo and health and kill your enemies, whih is not that for sure for stats.
I beat the game on Impossible yesterday. Up to the Body of the Many that was just Pistol/Rifle with occasional Grenade Launcher. Before the BoM I bought Regen, Radiation Shield (for that nasty radiated pool), Electronic Cascade (just for comfort) and Photonic Redirection (for BoM final fight). And some stats. And that was right choices - no problems from there on.
I think, next time I'll play (on Impossible, of cause, game is actually only moderately challenging on this difficulty), I'll actually try it with Psy/Energy character. That should be even easier.

That is precisely the reason I play games in the first place; to have some fun with challenges. There is not much sense in playing a game if it is a cakewalk all the way through either. That is the case with me if I allow myself to use weapons, the game gets boringly easy on Impossible.

Tried it, no fun. With energy weapon and cascade you don't have to worry about ammo, but insanely low fire rate of energy pistol in over mode makes life hell. Every spider is a problem.

Just take a whole inventory full of energy pistols with you and keep swapping between them while they're recharging.
There's also an exploit which you can use to make the pistol recharge from an overcharge shot instantly, but this way feels less like cheating.

It takes forever to kill them with energy weapons, it'd still be hell if overcharge was rapid fire. :o

Why don't you try Psy/Wrench instead on Impossible ... some of us made it throught that?
I dunno about the others but I had nightmares playing that combo when I'm stuck in Engineering ...

You mean PSI? ;)
The PSI/wrench combo is easy all the way through, though PSI-only is another story.
Rainalkar on 10/5/2007 at 16:51
I played PSI only ;) Difficult in the beginning, especialy at that one place where there are two shotgun zombies waiting behind the corner, but otherwise quite managable with the right skills and LOTS of patience (burn, assassin, burn ;))

It is best to just avoid attacking enemies early on; either use stealth or your stamina. :o
