I've heard a lot of good things about Dishonored and I plan to be getting my paws on it soon, however the fan on my geforce 9500 1gb sounds like it's degenerating so my plan was to use another tower I recently put together (2.6 duo core intel, 4 gigs of ram but only onboard Intel video on the biostar motherboard right now). I'm planning to get a pci express card (1 gb, fanless-don't want the noise!) and have checked out several options-but I'm pretty short financially so it can't be over $50, anyone have any particular model suggestions that you know form experience would work well?

Just ordered the Nvidia, didn't want another fan based card-but the stats were too good to ignore. Thanks for the info!:thumb:

ouch. too bad I did not notice this sooner - the performance of those cards is going to be really bad, one should not go lower than GT630 1GB DDR5 or HD6670 1GB DDR5. they are well worth those extra few dollars.
//aw geez, I can see that the (nvidia) card (from the link) is 64bit. do yourself a big favor, and cancel the purchase if you can, and get at least the (

@bd, come on, how can you recommend a 64bit card for
gaming with a straight face? that card is meant for
facebook, nothing more.

Er... he had a fixed budget did he not..?
* The GT630 is essentially the same card as the GT620 just slightly faster clock's and a 128bit interface, neither card is particularly fast.
* But I will grant you a HD6670 would murder all the other aforementioned cards as it has 480 cores and if IndyThief could go over budget a tad then he would indeed get a much better card. The cheapest I could find it was for (

Relax everyone, the card I ordered should be just fine for Dishonored (much better than what I was running before)-that's the only current game I have any interest in-the rest of the time I play the Thief series which has much lower graphics needs. I have too many things to do to spend a lot and biker's suggestion fit the bill perfectly. I've also heard various complaints about Tigerdirect's customer service from other people in the past so I'd rather stick to newegg anyways.

64bit cards should be avoided at all costs, no matter how limited your budget is. the crippled memory bus will simply murder any last bits of performance the card might have had.
//and the (

but well, he has already made his decision, so no point in discussing this any further, I guess.
