I was wondering: do any of you know any programmes that can take a scanned document and do OCR while keeping the original layout? I'm thinking e.g. of scans from books where, ideally, I'd be able to turn the scans into a PDF that still has the original scan's layout but the text is stored as text and can easily be copied.
Is this something that is doable with free OCR software?
