He'd be a lot better for France than Royal and you know that. If the French papers I have been reading are correct, and if French people are anything like American people, if she does get voted in, it will be because of her privates. Sorry to phrase it so vulgarly, but I want people to grasp the utter absurdity of it.

Uh, no. Right now, if she ever gets voted in, it will be because people don't want the other option. They won't vote for her, but against Sarkozy.
Which isn't really flattering either.

Considering that at this point in time, a random bum off the street would no doubt be a lot better for France then Royal, that's not much of an achievement.

Well, one hour into the TV debate, one to go, and it is not going too well in my opinion. Chances that it could turn the tide were very slim already, but now I can't see it happening...
Bushluskozy, winner sunday evening. It's set. :erg:
Well, at least I get to spend the week-end with my cat.

On a related note, there's a lot of local elections in the UK tomorrow.
As Paz helpfully pointed out to me, my labour candidate has an unfavourable looking neck beard (AND INTERRUPTED MY DINNER WITH HIS - "WHY HELLO THERE SO CAN I COUNT ON YOUR VOTE NEXT WEEK?" HOUSE CALL) so I'll be voting for someone else.
TBH it's not like any of them are even promising to address local issues I'm particularly interested in and once they get in I never hear a peep out of them anyway.
It's like voting for light beige or sepia.

Yeah, I think you're right.
From what little I saw of the debate*, i.e. what they broadcast in the news this morning, Segolene seemed almost histerical at times.
"Non, je ne me calmerai pas! Non, je ne me calmerai pas!" I dunno, doesn't seem that professional to me, and I'm guessing I'm not the only one to think that.
So, yeah, looks like the

This whole thing has gone down the drain.
I'm completely disgusted. Chirac's heir will be President with the support of the far right, the situation will go from bad to worse, and the PS blew a golden opportunity to win because they just couldn't get their shit together and support their own candidate.
Bleh. :tsktsk:

86% of the population voted. That's good.
53% for him.
I hate it when I'm right. :(

Is Sarkozy further to the right than Blair?
