That's some major engineering. It sort of reminds me of that huge underground subway project in Greece when they implemented that huge drill. It looked really cool. This looks a little bit "cleaner and prepared" than the project in Greece, but still very interesting.:thumb:

that's some badass/beautiful shit

Yes, strangely beautiful :) But I'm reminded more of The Island than Blade runner.

I guess I'm in for a real treat then! I've never seen Blade Runner, and I rented it tonight (along with Total Recall). I looove this kind of engineering/construction stuff.

Heh, cool site. That one vertical tunnel... THX1138?
I have never seen The Island, maybe I should then. My mentioning of Blade Runner was more directed at the bleak, dark future and size contrasts depicted in it, Ataricom. But where the movie really shines is with it's art déco sets and film noir characters. Ah anyway, I'm sure you'll love it. :)

That *is* cool. Anything underground like that gives me the shivers. Like the thought that there's a network of abandoned, 100-year-old sewer tunnels underneath NYC, which drives me nuts.... And city digging often turns up interesting archeological bits, old walls and structures (though that causes the whole enterprise to grind to a costly halt.)
Kolya on 25/4/2006 at 16:47
Yeah that happened a few times already. It seems like everytime a digger turns around here they find some Roman fortification. Sometimes you just want to say: Hey the Romans wouldn't mind if you razed that old junk.

My mate was into all that urban exploration stuff, there's a whole community of people who ferret around in construction tunnels, abandoned asylums, transit tubes, storm drains and the like and put pictures/stories online.
You can find one of the best websites (
http://www.infiltration.org/) Here, but there are dozens out there.
I'm too lazy/scared to go piss-arsing around in
access denied areas myself, but I love reading about their exploits
edit: There's a particularly interesting article about exploring a subway tunnel which is in the middle of being built (
