WO is great, though. I'm just amazed at how realistic it all looks.
If you don't like WO, though, try Stalker Skies, which is an older mod but retains some of the older "look and feel" of vanilla stalker.

A question about proper gamma/brightness setting in dynamic lighting mode: how did you set them, are nights supposed to be really dark to a degree that it would be nearly impossible to make out living things at a distance of 10-20 meters and more without nightvision?

I use high contrast and slightly above medium brightness & gamma. It still makes it impossible for me to see anything in the nights when using darker nights + WO. I can't make out anything with the night vision either, so it's down to using flashlight and map. And during fights; god have mercy on my soul.

If it bothers you in using WO, you can use brighter nights, which is optional. I tried darker nights and it was just too much, so I switched back to regular.

I'm gonna do the same. You can't believe how surprised I was when I managed to kill some monolith by using their guns' muzzleflashes as targets, but I've had enough of that after the border protection in Military Warehouses. :p
By the way, the WO author spoke of tempo changing mods being out there. I'd love to make the clock go a bit slower. So, anyone know where to find such mod? Or at least know which file contains the code so I can modify myself?

If you find any, let me know.

I tried lots of searching earlier today, with no luck.

Alrighty, I found out how to change the in-game time. :D
Open up gamedata.db0 with any of the available dbx browsers/extractors. Find the file alife.ltx in the 'config' folder within the gamedata.db0.
Open up alife.ltx with notepad or any text editor and go to the very bottom, the [alife] section. See the time_factor and normal_time_factor lines? They are both set to 10. Smaller numbers mean in-game time slows down, bigger numbers do the opposite.
(setting both to 1 means realtime; 24 real life hours = 24 in-game hours)
I haven't tested how this affects hunger, stamina or mods like weather overhaul. Maybe we can all work together on that part. ;)
An important note: This only seems to work if you start a new game. At first I thought I was doing something wrong since time speed remained unchanged, but once I tried loading a new game instead of a savegame, the magic happened.

Excellent, thanks.

I think I read in the Overhaul's readme that they can't guarantee everything working as it should if you change the time.
