How big is the possibility that one of those happy customers manages to get himself killed and a merc/bandit/army guy picks one of them zappo rifles up and then tries to get thru the bar area?

Oh god, the possibilities! It is true that giving them a good gun doesn't make them good shots. I've already wandered into Agrorpom north to check on the guys and found bandits taking pot shots at me with gauss rounds.
Something I've theorised about giving people weapons; you might have to sell them some ammo along with it so they don't run out after one clip. This is annoying if you want to give a fancy gun to someone in Garbage, for instance as you usually can't trade regular ammo. But since the Gauss Mk2 is a mod gun you can sell them a clip's worth spare.
I'm not too sure if any of this is true, but so far it seems to be working. Most fancy guns run out of ammo depending on which region they're in (I'm guessing this is how it works since I've never had any trouble giving 'O'bakans to people in cordon, but give them something that uses nato rounds or whatever and they're back to pistols after a little while. People used to report that handing over a fully loaded gun was enough for NPCs to never run out, but in some patch version that must have changed as they always run out for me). It's hard to tell though since the guys in Yantar are the only ones who really like to light the place up with their new Gmk2s and that's somewhere ammo for that gun would work fine if my theory is correct. Selling people spare ammo is working so far in Garbage though. If only I can get them to shoot straight.
After a while I branched off from my main game of mucking about, loaded up with gauss rounds and made a push for the power station. I noticed a couple of things along the way. One was at the end of Pripyat I wasn't spirited away across the 'field' but actually had to walk across (it looks like it's a race track or something like that). I don't know if the mod did this or it just depends what doorway you go through.
The NPP assault was just as frantic as ever. I always feel terrible having to run through there as I just want to let the air clear and wander around and check the place out. The Gauss mk2 is obscenely powerful and makes life a lot easier on the inside (particularly once you know what to expect too). But on the other side of the plant I was a bit bummed; the weather was quite different and it didn't have the same feel. The first time through I thought 'cool, another level' fought the first couple of guys then walked through the teleporter whereupon I'm on the roof and can see pretty much to the horizon and the only way to describe what that was like is this :wot:
This time though there was a lot of fog and cloud shortening the draw distance and you couldn't even see to the other side of the facility. It just doesn't have the same impact. I don't know if that's the mod's doing or if the game changes it, but oh well. I'll turn the mod off and load an old save.

Here's a list of what I'm using.
Raw Onion Revamp
Real Weapon Names
Stalker Weather Overhaul 2.0 (BRILLIANT)
Sound Overhaul
Repair Mod
Repair Mod English Edit (my own work, the English in the original Repair mod can be classified as a hate crime)
Atmosphere TV (always hated that random video from Dark Escape playing. You can't even go to that map so why should I have to look at it on the TV?)
Show Reward Mod
Quest Mod (gives you 10 days to complete quests and restores cut quests)
I'm thinking of implementing the Sleeping Bag mod if I can figure out how to fit it in without overwriting anything.
If you notice, aside from the quest and repair mods I don't really use anything that drastically changes gameplay, only improves upon the existing game in small ways to make it less annoying. I hope I can fit the sleep mod in without fucking anything up.

Funny, didn't know the video was from Dark Escape ;)
PS: Tried Wearther Overhauled 2.0. Can't say I liked it much. Surely, picture becomes more colourful, but original STALKER is kind of desaturated and not that colourful for a reason. It's not OBLIVION after all ;) Then I didn't like how objects still cast quite distinct shadows even when sun is totally covered by heavy rainy clouds. And the thing I didn't like the most about the mod - there is some error with rain rendering, like rain droplets continue to fly in totally random directions after they touch ground, very weird effect.

I started a new runthrough, the first one running mods, and decided to make the game play a bit more like the iD shooters. So I added Weight Mod to get ridiculous weight limit (2000 kgs), Repair Mod and Stashed (I hate it when some marked stashes are mysteriously empty, so this one's a lifesaver).
Lets just say the game changed dramatically now that I don't have to worry about what to take with me. :p

Well the sleeping bag mod b0rks up savegames so I'm continuing on without it. Seems to work in a new game, though, but by this point I'm not willing to start over again.
242, that's odd, I never had a problem with the mod save one- I'm not a fan of Dark Valley being sunny. Then again, I've only been there in the early morning, and it's really quite cloudy amidst all the sunlight so maybe it'll change as the day wears on. I got a lot of bandits to kill in the meantime.

Well I just started a new game with Oblivion Lost mod. It looks interesting, the graphical changes are nice, not necessarily better but it's nice to have a change. Haven't really played enough of it to make a judgement though and I'm currently in the process of modding all my old weapon changes back in. I hate how every mod seems to think it needs it's own weapons these days and how people's response to the vintorez is usually 'zomg why does the bullets go so slow? must be a bug lets make them go 1000m/s'. People don't seem to realise that you can't magically silence a sonic boom.

Dark Valley does indeed grow dark during the course of the day, but eventually the clouds clear and sunset begins.
I dunno, I guess I don't mind. It's consistent with the rest of the game anyway.

But not only DV's sky is too clear and blue with the Weather Overhauled mod. The new sky just is too colourful for any level of this game, it affects atmosphere negatively. People like colours I know, but there is such thing as style, which defines colours.

Weather Overhaul is not meant to be used on the first runthrough anyway. In my opinion it's changes to the weather, sky and sunlight are brilliant and refreshing. It gives the game a whole new look and feel. What I'm looking for these days is a mod that slows down the game's tempo, just so I can enjoy each part of the day longer.
(I do hope Weather Overhaul can adjust itself to a changed tempo, properly...)
