It's kinda hilarious that everywhere translates that as 'Fey City' like it's really precise. No secondary meanings or alternates, nuthin'.
I had to look up 'fey', for the first time, to find that it's pretty appropriate, concerning death and fairies and things to do with the netherworld (which should have been obvious now I think about it, similarity to 'fae' n' all).
I think the most appropriate translation would be 'Doomed Town'

I just reinstalled after playing through the vanilla version a ways back, but haven't played it for quite a while. I tried a second run through with OL, but got sick of my old comp struggling with it, so gave up. First of all, which patch should I use? Still 1.004 or is there something better?
Also, the game defaulted to 1024 X 768 with full dynamic lighting with high settings on my new rig, but it seems pretty laggy. Is my comp to weak to run with these default settings or will a patch help this?
Athlon dual core 4550E
3 gigs ram
XFX 8600GT
I know it's a pretty dated system, but was hoping to at least play with dynamic lighting as with the old comp I had to use static.
As to mods, I liked OL at least as far as I got before, so probably go with that, (although I did find it pretty difficult), but what I'd really like is a decent stealth mod. I've perused this thread and it seems like there's some of them out there, but which one would be the best?
Appreciate it.

The stealth is okay, but bugged in the way that once you reload all enemies in range will be aware of your presence.
There's no mod to fix it as far as I know, you need to ironman it.

A patch won't help. I guess 8600 is the culprit, try to play with graphics options, disable anti-aliasing or any other resource greedy options you may have enabled.

All's good now with the game. I didn't realize AVG was running in the background when I first sparked it up. I used 1.0005 because the sites that had 1.0004 were making me jump through hoops to download, so went to fileplanet and got that one. This won't muck me up will it?
I added the float32 mod as well, and it's running silky smooth. Wow! What a difference between static lighting and dynamic. It's almost like a totally different game.
This is gonna be fun.

Ok, it seems I played AMK so much that I broke it.
I've been wandering around for ages trying to find recipes without much success. Then I got two from doing little side quests like "the family gun". The bummer is most of the side quests don't work anymore because the people in question are dead now. Guess I'll have to start over and try that one. (some I found by stumbling through dialogue trees still entirely in untranslated cyrilic. I can sound out the cyrilic alphabet now but don't really know many Russian words or grammar, so that's fun.)
The recipes are still often flat out wrong; one telling me to put such-and-such in the electro (I think), when that didn't work I tried throwing it into every other anomaly and Mincer worked. For a while I did try throwing every damn artifact systematically into every damn anomaly so I've become convinced that unless you know the recipe it won't work.
Anyway, one day after wandering around and planning travel around blowouts as per normal I apparently lost track of time and fell asleep from exhaustion.
When I woke up all news had stopped except for weather comments and I eventually found I no longer needed sleep and there were no more blowouts.
Bizarre indeed. I also really miss the lingering threat.
Oh well; tired of having lower level encampments die from stupidity or attrition (The guys at Agroprom get slaughtered so often it's not funny) I've taken to running around 'nude' with my badass artifacts and distributing exoskeletons and other suits with Grozas and so on, to groups that are vulnerable (something I think D'arcy was doing a while ago). The guys under the small bridge at Cordon are armed to the teeth. Some of the fools just won't put down their sawnoffs though, despite me handing them a SIG or something.
