and I presume it will be pretty open-ended.
It's less open-ended than SoC judging by forums. Deem it standalone add-on, it costs appropriately too.

Patch 94 for the english AMK was mostly translation fixes for receipts (they were downright unreadable before), base is still 1.4., doesnt have any of the stuff mentioned in some 1.4.1 descriptions i read like new patrols, nobody buying PM pistols anymore, changes to traders like Sakharov not selling ammo (new icons were already in 1.4 or are there newer ones now?).
Current version is AMK-EN final rev 22 with patch 94 or amk-en 2.0/final so english amk 1.4.1 would be AMK-EN 2.1, yeah im confused as heck too :laff:

I've started playing Stalker for the second time and wanted a mod that didn't change things to much and heard some good things about this one. Anyone else tried it?
I don't really want anything to make the game much harder as I personally find it difficult enough in the vanilla version but it would be cool to have a more active alife w/more random encounters.

I read Z.R.P. (Zone Reclamation Project) mod didn't change balance, check it.

I know nothing of ABC, but I found the game a lot easier and less frustrating in OL2.0 than did in the vanilla game. That was on hardest difficulty too. Yeah, you can die really easy, but it makes the game more tense and you don't have 10 minute firefights with one guy 30 feet away. It also makes them a lot less accurate at nighttime and adds awesome day/night cycles etc. I didn't beat the game but I think its all around better than vanilla, if a little hard at times.

Actually I did install OL2.0 and really glad I did. I wanted more random Alife and man oh man did I get it. I'm playing on the default setting and find the difficulty just about right. With this mod the game is harder but the guns seem more accurate, so it seems to even out. You're right too, the day/night cycle is awesome. I had a problem in the vanilla version getting the nights to look right. It was either to dark or to light and the game always reset itself as far as gamma and brightness settings went so I was constantly going in and out of the game to try and fix it. Since this mod, it's now perfect.
And although I'm not sure if the sound was altered or not, even the audio seems better. I was wandering around looking for Fox and noticed a stash on my map. It was getting dark and I couldn’t see a thing, so I literally crawled towards it using the flashlight only when absolutely necessary. The sounds of nearby creatures were freaking me out and when a boar attacked me I nearly shit my pants.

I recently installed Oblivion Lost 2.0 and find it pretty nice. I did, however, find the AI of the enemies much easier -- they just stand around sometimes, even when I am in clear sight, is this normal?

Saam, did you try AMK? It's the challenge. Many say it's better than OL.
