AMK can be quite brutal even on novice. Especially in the later levels with large packs of mutants. Of course, you need to take advantage of the terrain to deal with such things (get up high or inside a bus etc). Bloodsuckers can be a problem as you need to shoot them in the back of the head for a one shot kill, otherwise you can waste clip after clip before they'll drop. I think the most over powered creature though is the electrical chimera. Every time you shoot one it'll discharge, so you either need to pick it off quickly, or only shoot it when it is at a distance ((
http://www.twelvefortythree.com/stalker/oh_shit.jpg) which can be hard when you have a pack on your arse!!). Those things have killed me so many times.
As for stashes, you can make your own. I think you'll start with a backpack which can be placed on the ground for a stash. You can buy more from the Bar. I've used original stashes for myself though without anything going missing, but it is nice to be able to set up stashes at entrance points. I tend to place them in spots that other stalkers cannot get to just in case.
Not sure about respawn times. Might want to play around with that one. Unless something went wrong with my config, i found they respawned way too quickly. Most times i had not even finished looting their bodies before i came under attack again.
@Koki: Not sure about realistic weapon mod for AMK. I thought i downloaded one at some point, but seem to have lost it.

Did you try to knife them? I read one hit is enough, grenades work very good too.

about priboi story + patch 1.0004
you will have to patch priboi story 1.1 with a 1.0004 fix in the extras folder.
then apply the fix for 1.1 AFTER that. many ppl have 1004 crashing 'cause they did not read the readme. some have crashes even after that. so I don't know if it's going to help.
i would say AMK is the best of the "change gameplay" mods with the most features but it's totally ridiculous sometimes and leagues harder than vanilla.
priboi set out to do something totally different, change the whole story, structure and visual presentation of the game and for that it's unique and in it's own league. you can't compare it to other mods and should be played AFTER you finished the vanilla quest.

Yeah, i've done all that. It is the exact same bug as with 1.0. Other XP64 users have mentioned the same problem. Cannot seem to find a fix, and i know nothing about stalker modding so i would not even know where to start looking. Not to worry. I'll be playing Clear Sky soon anyway ;)

Yeah, that works, but is not easy when there are packs of other things trying to kill you too. Knife is excellent for taking out Snorks, though that is no different from vanilla. Let them pump at you, dodge, and knife them. Beautiful.

Heh, currently replaying and i already had plenty of run ins with them. One time one killed the entire staff of dutiers at Yantar, which coincidentally contained one dude who snatched Barins rifle before i could get it (PS : Dont give those dudes rocket launcers. One thought he was smart by firing one directly into the fence with 2 others nearby). I ran circles around the bunker trying to get to safe distance so i could shoot it, barely lived at the end.
Another time a pack of three "protected" a controller who was right at the very end of the underground tunnel in Wild territory which meant he could cover almost the entire middle area with his stupid "noise and screen shaking" psy crap. Clearing the place out with grenades without being fried by either the normal anomalies or the electro chimeras proved to be quite a challenge.
AMK is a total nuthouse at times (controller at Cordon? Packs of pseudodogs+normal dogs+chimera+poltergeist at garbage to get to a stash containing two sausages? Controller at Warehouses border zombifieing the whole border crew thus needing me to kill them and then the monolith invasion? Yes plox) but gawd do i love it :cheeky:

There is another very popular mod for Russian version of the game (I mean comparable with AMK by popularity) called Old Good Stalker Mod or OGSM, it's less radical than AMK, has almost all key features of AMK (emissions, cut out monsters, and new ones like electro chimera, psi burer, zombie kamikaze, sleep, weapon/armour repairing, cut out quests, some new quests, some new weapons, artifacts ect.), but doesn't change balance (much). Weapon damage and monster strength aren't changed as well as artifact effects and prices. I wonder if the mod exists for English version of the game, and if yes, did anyone try it?

Which version did you play? I played with AMK (1.4.1 + 2 patches for it) some more, just finished Garbage and except 1 Chimera (west of car-park) didn't encounter there anything particularly dangerous. Cordon also was populated pretty much as in original game. May be such hideous packs of monsters you all are talking about start to appear on the maps only after re-visit or some event? Or devs fixed it with the patches? In 1.4.1 readme they wrote: "monster population is decreased"...
Anyway, I like it. Monsters are considerably harder than in original, but it's nice, after all there is enough ammo laying around and monsters aren't nearly impossible, it's just that now you have to plan your battle beforehand and be more careful. Chimera was particularly hard until I learned tactics to beat it, also, Fleshes were surprisingly hard too :) 1 Chimera isn't so big danger, but I guess group of 3 or 4 will require some serious planning. Humans are harder too, but not so much as monsters. And I just love how stalkers now loot corpses, stashes, pick up artifacts. One question though: in the novices camp I dropped my artifacts and people immediately picked them up, but when I stashed them to rucksack Sid gave me, they would not try to loot it. Do NPCs loot such rucksacks?
Stalker is definitely the most sandbox game I have ever played :)

Isnt 1.4.1 russian only still? Playing AMK english final (translated 1.4) + patch 94.
NPCs wont touch anything you put into a ruckack. I usually cheat myself two more (why the hell you cant buy em eludes me) into a generic quest so i can set up stashes as soon as i get to the Garbage and Bar (after that i usually get more than id ever need from random "thank you" gifts) :p

I don't know what they call patch 94, maybe it equals 1.4.1 for Rus. version. Do military patrol along railway in Cordon? Does your version have different, if compared with original game, artifact icons? It's a few features of 1.4.1.

Once they have confused me with the amount of revisions they did, alright... I wonder when I get back to modded Stalker again now that CS is knocking at the door and I presume it will be pretty open-ended.
