Mighty handy suggestion, will do! :)

Quick Question here. Can you run Oblivion Lost for the first time from a save game, or do you have to start from the beginning for it to work properly?
Edit: Just answered my own question. Crashed the game.

Im running OL 2.0 and would be glad to send you a savegame from farther on if you want to be able to check it out a little bit more. PM me if so.

Thanks, but nah. My old saves date back when I last played the game almost a year ago. I barely even remember what I'm supposed to be doing. Figured I might as well start fresh and experience it all anew, specially since the mod changes so much stuff for the better.
As for the mod, I like the fact I don't have to empty an entire AK clip into a guys face before he drops. Also, I was absolutely floored when I saw a pack of blind dogs run across a field to gang up on an unfortunate, lonely boar. That was what I imagined A-Life would be like back I was reading previews for the game long, long ago. The actual implementation was one of the few things that disappointed me about STALKER, and from what (admittedly little) I've seen so far, this mod looks to fix that problem completely.
And graphically, OL really tweaks things up for the better. I've lost a few frames in the tradeoff from Vanilla STALKER to OL, but it's been worth it. I'm thinking about posting some shots in the screenshot thread of some of the stuff that really impressed me...even if it is all just in Cordon.
So far, I'm tickled pink. This is neat stuff.

Such events are plenty in original too, you just didn't play it enough I guess ;)
I still vividly remember what happened when I was going from the Bar to Yantar, the HUGE pack of wild dogs suddenly cracked down on 2 lonely stalkers ahead of me and bitten them to death in just 5-10 sec., and then I watched how the dogs dragged them away via binoculars. That was quite grisly and disturbing to see, especially at late evening and being far from any other people. And what I love about the game that such events aren't scripted.
Another very memorable event for me was my unexpected encounter with Controller:

I've had the occasional run ins with the wildlife here and there, but I almost never saw doing anything even remotely as interesting as that. Mostly, I'd see them running around as a pack, or sniffing at the corpses. No dragging bodies away, ambushing other Stalkers in the middle of firefights, or anything. They were just running, sniffing, or dying at the hands of the NPCs.
The mod changed that completely. Not only do I see a helluva lot more of the wildlife (which is cool, since I think it makes the Zone feel more chaotic and wild), but they're alot more active and realistically unpredictable now. I've seen them do little things I wouldn't expect an AI in a game to do, stuff that impresses me to no end and makes the world feel so much more alive now.
I had this one run in with a Blind Dog that sticks out in my mind. I'm running along during the dead of night, only a flashlight to guide my way, when I hear a growl off to the right of me. I stop and start swinging around, thinking I'm about to get ambushed, and finally come across a single dog sitting on it's haunches a little ways off the road. It's dead center of my flashlight, just staring me down, occasionally growling. This goes on for a tiny bit, and I eventually assume the thing is harmless. So I swing off to the left to go on my merry way. But as soon as I turn, when it's almost on the edge of the flashlight beam, I see it bolt off in the opposite direction.
It was such a tiny thing. No gunfights, no big explosions, nothing. But as subtle as it was, it made the night in the game seem that much creepier and forlorn than it would have if the thing just ran up and started attacking me.
That was the first of many cool things to happen that night. Everything that went down from that point til sunrise made me fall in love with both the mod and the game again.

Yes, I've seen dogs dragging bodies twice in original game, but you have to be lucky to witness it. Once in Agroprom it was a pseudodog, I was about ten meters away from it, it dragged a dead body out of my sight behind a car wreck and then I could just hear as his teeth are crunching the bones of dead stalker, behind the car. Somehow disturbing, but then I had feeling, just for a moment, that there is still something left in the final game of the originally promised ecosystem. Cool.
Yesterday I encountered strange bug in AMK mod. There was a blowout at evening. I don't know if blowouts can mess up the weather and time, but later I thought, this sunset lasts somehow too long. I checked the PDA and the time was 0:25. Past midnight and the sun is still setting! The night just refused to come. At 4.25 morning I finally decided to have a nap, in hope that the day/night cycle gets back to it's natural order when I wake up, but as I clicked on the bedroll in my inventory, it disappeared. I have saved before that, so I tried to reload. The game refused to reload, it freezed at Client : Synchronizing. I had to call up the task manager and end the game in it, but it took a while, the CPU was quite busy. I restarted the game, tried to load the last savegame, but it fell to desktop during loading. This is something serious.
Fortunately I have two older saved positions so I can get back to them. But if such thing happens again, I think I will report a bug to the AMK team.
Imagine, time not passing - the weirdest anomaly in the Zone. :p

Yeah I've seen that. Although my sunset hasn't been as late as yours it is gradually getting later, like the day/night cycle and the clock are out of synch.
Also I too apparently uh... ate my sleeping bag as well (though somehow I had two). Then I tried to look at my spare backpacks and ate them as well !

I've been waiting months for boarding school to end so i could go home and install AMK. Finals just ended, got home, installed it, and started it up. It was fun, for the time it worked. I was in the hangar at garbage, and was going towards the bar. Got to the bar, ran past the dogs and then it froze. For about 30 seconds i assumed it was loading up the stuff I had in boxes, but then it crashed. It said the x-ray engine had failed and bugtrap had detected a problem, so it shut down. Every time i run past the dogs into the bar, right as I pass the first big container it freezes, like there is a wall. If i go back, its fine. But I cant go north unless i go through the bar. I hear all these great stories about AMK and would like to appreciate it in full. Drivers are new, everything in good spec-wise, Dxdiag says no problems, and that is where my knowledge ends. Help please...
