Distance remains reluctantly crouched at the starting line, still needing to scrape together 60 000 dollars in the next 10 days, somehow. The devs recently added Linux-support and split-screen to the features list, in case that'll sway anyone to get on the gravytrain before it leaves the station. (

really want this game to get made!)

Looks like they might have aimed a little high, sad to say. Even though it's not the same, I feel this has stiff competition for casual players from Trackmania and their own free game.

AND the kickstarter seems to have had a growthspurt over the past few days, being at almost $100000 right now. Only ~$25000 to go! Omgomgomg it looks like it might happen after all! :D:D:D:D:D

I've been playing the original after seeing this thread. I could do without the announcer, but I'm perfectly ok with the leet cyberpunk art.
My car randomly landed in this position at one point, and it was too picturesque that I couldn't resist a screenshot.

The Distance team just posted a new video. Looks like it's coming along nicely. :)

The Refract guys are running behind schedule. August came and went without a release. Apparently the game is swamped with Networking and Performance issues. What did come out was the Alpha (which originally was slated for May), here's a video from one of the Alpha-level backers:

All I can say is... holy fucking shit Refract, stop being such perfectionists and just release THAT as the final game! COME ON GUYS YOU CAN FIX THE BUGS IN A PATCH OR WHATEVER JUST LET ME PLAY IT OK :D

I hope there's a way to turn off the announcer's voice & there's just a soundtrack like that pumping.
The online racing looks like great fun.

You could turn off the announcer in Nitronic Rush so I'm sure you'll be able to do it in Distance too. And yes, that's the actual soundtrack.
The beta is nearly half a year delayed by now. Grrrrr mumble kickstarters grumble. :grr:
The video certainly shows progress though, so I'm glad they're not just sitting around.
