Hi
I have the GoG version of SS2 with NewDark 2.42.
I run Zonealarm to control what applications can access and each time I run SS2, Zonealarm reports it is asking for to access the 'Internet' (via Rundll32). If I deny it access, SS2 fails to load but I can see Rundll32.exe and Shock2.exe in the Task Manager. Rundll32.exe can be using a full core of utilisation as it seems to be fighting with Zonealarm which is denying it access.
If I try launch SS2 a second time then it loads.
If I remove the ethernet cable, I don't get the Zonealarm message but the rest is the same as above. The first launch does nothing (Rundll32 is presumably trying to access the 'internet' still). Launching a second time and all is fine.
In both cases, once the 2nd launch is ok, I can go into task manager, kill rundll32 and the first Shock2.exe.
Now, I don't know exactly what Zonealarm means by 'Internet'. For another game which was trying to talk to it's editor via a port, Zonealarm produced the same message.
So, it might be that but I don't know why it needs access to a port, or to talk to the Internet if that it's what it's trying to do.
I don't have similar problems with NewDark and Thief.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks
