This last couple of weeks were a pain in the ass.
My phone lines went dead. Took 5 days for the repairman to show up. He replaced the dropbox, but the line is still dead. Fortunately the DSL line works so that's a plus.
But it seems that there is a problem in the interior lines. I've been tracing them and it is really a major hassle. The repairman left me a few hundred feet of new cable, so if I have to pull new lines that's taken care of.
Saturday two weeks ago my truck blew the engine in the middle of the night in a remote area. 1 and 1/2 hours after I called, the tow truck showed up. While I was waiting, and pacing, the soles, both of them, came off my shoes. By the time he arrived I had walked through a pair of socks.
My mechanic just finished the rebuild for the engine (3,095.00 later) I finally got the truck back. The 3 bills is still cheap when you look at a 20,000 to 40,000 for a new one at 300 a month for life.
All in all I've had better times.
So tonight I'm celebrating.

Insist you retitle this thread or add more content about masturbation.
Ok OK, now I've lowerd the tone somewhat, once a serviceman reconnected my house line to the wrong number at a node somewhere. The phone still worked but no one could call me, the net didn't work etc. It took the longest week ever to get that sorted out, while I repeatedly had to insist to people at the call centre that I wasn't insane and it didn't matter if my phone appeared to be working from their end, it wasn't working and they still had to give me service (negotiating telstra's 1st tier support script is like trying to play a chose your own adventure book where you've read one of the endings but don't know the path to get there). In the end my ISP support people figured it out and told me all these groovy codes to test your line And the right words to bamboozle phone company suport o they had to pass me on to a proper tech who'd know what to do.
At the end of the week the house probably the cleanest and in the best repair it had been for a while though.

The incoming is perfect at the house box. There seems to be a short in the phone pair in the interior lines.
Weird. Nothing had changed except the weather. So, it's down to grung work with a tone generator to trace the inside wiring.
But with all the $$ the phone co's get service should not take 5 days and repeated hassles with the fricken swithboard.

Friday night. Let's keep this ball rollin'.
About two or three weeks ago my cell phone out of the blue stopped receiving and sending calls. It was getting power, everything seemed okay, but calls just didn't go in or out. So I pay for a new phone. Then the day the new phone arrives my old phone suddenly starts taking and sending calls again, as if right on cue. Not the worst, certainly doesn't compete ITT ... but still a pain losing service for 3 weeks and buying a new phone for nothing. But at least I can catch back up on all the Ratatat's gossip now, which I missed (we apparently share a phone number or something like that).
PS, all sympathies to my thread predecessors.

When my phone quit I ran my own line into the test outlet on the phone box. Eventually I figured out it WAS the line and ran a new one but until then the test one worked fine. Damn a sevice call.
On the other hand when I replaced a faulty breaker my screwdriver slipped and I slammed it directly into the raw feed bar so a pro is a nice advantage. After I got the stove working I found out the hard way someone had spilled cooking oil on a back burner. I was able to smother the flames but it gave me a piss my pants cursing moment.
You know the most common thing to crack a head or head gasket? A busted radiater hose. That's what most people mean by blowing the engine. Sometimes it's a leaky heater core or an oil plug left undone after an oil change but mostly it's the hose. A cheap hose you should replace every few years. Upper and lower.

Both heads blew with internal leaks. The rebuild has a 3 year, 50,000 mile guarantee.
First thing I checked was the radiator connections and all hoses. But until we took it apart there was no way to see. Pressure check before we disassembled the engine showed that the leak was in the head.
The head surfaces were perfect as were the gaskets.

My hearing aid is in need of repair. My mp3 player's headphone jack has been semi-broken all year and has recently taken a turn for the worse. My internet's been causing trouble, first with random drops then with ridiculously slow speeds; I had to take off school to bring the internet guy out, but he only got it back up to 2/3rds of what it used to be. Now it's back to less than a third and I'm not even pulling down a meg per second when I used to pull down at least 2. I can't call the internet guy until fucking DECEMBER because they only send them out on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I can't afford to miss classes those days. Today I found out my car battery was dead, and while I got a ride to my appointment, that was after I locked my keys in the car. Called AAA once I got home, turns out the battery's got a bad cell and needs replacing- $120 down the fucking drain.

I enlisted. A week in twisted my ankle on the morning practice. Three weeks in cast, don't know how much the reconwalescence will take. I got out of the cast a week ago and it's still swollen.

You won't be. You get no credit for lying in bed in hospital or gimping around. You will probably be effectively back to square one with your training.
So you just added 6 more weeks to your training. Good luck. :ebil:
