I don't know that I'd call it an inside joke. A perusal of his posts makes the reasoning behind it fairly clear.
The vBulletin behavior here seems flawed-- Once any search term becomes noticeably larger than the others, people will click on it just out of curiosity, thus further inflating its popularity. Feedback loop of doom.
"god dammit massi" does seem to be gaining ground lately though.
