RPG + FPS = Two months of non-stop PC-Hugging, keyboard-slamming, mouse-tapping action.
Well anyway, its one of the best games I've ever played. The desicions you make in the game affect the ending and stuff... well at least thats what I like about a game but I don't know about you.
Whatever it is, Deus Ex is worth your cash. No really.

It's smart, it's addictive, it's huge, and it's replayable. Even though it's 3 years old it's way better than a lot of the stuff coming out today. If you have the intellectual capacity to appreciate something like Deus Ex then you've got something to brag about. No really.

It has a great dark-SF story. It puts you into a world populated by numerous people whose actions do depend on your earlier "record". It offers you many different playing styles, from Quake mode through stealth (you have played Thief or Thief 2, haven't you?) to complete pacifism. It is very well designed, while keeping hardware requirements at a reasonable level. Everything people have mentioned already.
Do you need more reasons? Come, UNATCO needs some good men to turn them into mindless killing machines :ebil:

You'll know why you've bought it as soon as you played it. I know I sound like a wiseacre now, but that's the way it is. DX can't be summed up in a few words.

OK Say I have enough $$$ to buy JUST ONE of the following:
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Thief (1 or 2)
I Have an overclocked XP1800+, 512mb DDR, and a Radeon 9500pro, so I want something addictive, and give me some cool visuals. btw, I already have Morrowind, so please stick to the above games (no wiseacres :cheeky: ).

Do you really or is this just a hypothetical situation? Deus Ex uses the Unreal engine so it would probably have the best visuals, even though the Dark engine doesn't look all that bad. Visuals aren't why people like these games though. Since you said you were interested in Deus Ex, then go for it. It shouldn't be that expensive now since it's a 3 year old game. The gameplay hasn't depreciated one bit IMO, which is good news.

If you are a sci-fi person, start with Deus Ex and follow down the list when you have enough money :) . If not, start with Thief and move upwards.
Just remember to try getting Thief Gold instead of "plain" Thief 1.

Thank You all for your advice; I am somewhat of a sci-fi geek, so I think I will "take it from the top"
