Naw, don't change just for that. Sometimes I find you hard to understand but its lines like the one I quoted that are gold. I wouldn't get it if I saw it on its own but as I do understand it I swear its some kind of poetry.

RBJ, I didn't ignore or overlook the fact that a large part of your post was heartfelt and genuine. It was however framed, with the title, the beginning and end, being an over-the-top parody of charity requests. There's a connection between the tone of that request and Rogue Keeper's answer. You could have avoided this by relying on veracity and in this case it probably would have been prudent to do so, not just for this reason. As it is, a reaction like Rogue Keeper's may not be nice but expectable. And I think you did expect it but decided to go the edgy route anyway. Well.
Stitch, I tried to emphasize how an emotional overreaction took the place of reasonable judgement in regard to Rogue Keeper. And you stress the emotional aspect once again. RBJ was "warm, direct and honest" to you and Rogue Keeper's answer had "no element of humour" and "is a trivialization". Now humour may not be debatable but RBJ's own thread title could be called "a trivialization of RBJ's case for donations".
I also disagree with your and Enchantermon's point that emotional manipulation was a necessity for RBJ lest his request be ignored. We're not myopic cynics after all.
Were you trying to say something, Ko0K?
Rug Burn Junky on 15/9/2009 at 09:35
Kolya, just drop it. Why are you bothering to continue this? What do you even hope to prove?
Almost everyone here is being universally supportive, and most seem to appreciate the fact that the message was delivered with humor and personality, instead of merely a maudlin request for money.
That is, everyone except for a few asshats who have decided that, due to their near-autistic inability to read posts in anything but the most literal fashion, they have to get a bug up their ass and show some sort of indignation... on behalf of whom? My girlfriend? The one who actually made the same joke to me in the first place?
I should have been "prudent" and catered to the likes of an idiot like BR? Christ, shoot me if I ever worry about what he thinks. If I've made one thing abundantly clear during the tenure of my time here it's that I don't cater to the lowest common denominator of stupidity. It didn't have shit to do with being "edgy," I was speaking to the adults in the room who can handle complex social interactions.
Seriously, stop beating this horse. I'm perfectly comfortable with the tone of my request and nobody, especially not the social-retard brigade that you're heading up, is going to convince me otherwise.

RBJ, if I send money, your girlfriend must analyze one of my stick figure drawings and must publicly claim that it is a brilliant work of art, so I can sell it to the Guggenheim and become rich. :p
But seriously, I know I'm mostly a lurker here who posts only occasionally, but I'd like to donate something regardless. One of my best friends also has Type I diabetes, and I hope he'll become very old and I also hope he can one day stop worrying about his insulin levels.
But it's going to have to go through PayPal for me too, as they won't accept credit cards from Holland. I'm currently in the process of tying my bank account to my PayPal account, if that goes as planned (and I don't see why it wouldn't), I'll PM you to arrange the donation.
Good luck with your cause.

I'd love to see Koyla and crew's attempts at the same thread starter. Epic failures I predict.
Kolya on 15/9/2009 at 10:52
Unlike you I don't consider myself part of any crew and hence don't write threads for them.

Rug Burn Junky, I am very worried about your girlfriend, she is such a beautiful... And he has a very sweet looking.
If she were ugly, we'd let her die.

I just wanted to say that I dont think Rogue Keeper/Br# is that much of an asshat(normally). Certainly not a smooth talker though.
I also love RBJ.
