If I hadn't emptied my bank account and re-filled my credit cards this week for school I'd be donating right now.
One of my best friends in the world Died a little under 2 years ago from his diabetes. He was incredibly strong (he was a rugby player) and he had just finished his agriculture degree. He was working with a private company that contracted with the gov't (I think) when he died, and it was his dream to move to africa and help people there learn to grow crops. He was the singer in my band back then and the night before he died we had a practice together. He was only just married too, and left behind his wife.
Diabetes is frightening, because no matter how well you regulate it, one day it could just come and kill you in your sleep. I didn't read all the comments on the page, but to anyone who says "they'll live" you should be more sensitive about it because you don't know.

Since every dolt considers Rogue Keeper fair game now I feel I have to say something. Rogue Keeper gave an insensitive but actually very adequate response to a charity request that was obviously written with entertainment in mind, but which failed to recognise the fact that most people will appreciate seriousness & honesty when being asked for money, especially when they don't have much themselves.
Then the Commchat "family" overreacted, like they always do when they feel one of their loved ones has been mistreated, and jumped collectively at Rogue Keeper.
Note that not everyone here knows RBJ since the beginning of time. Also note that not a single one of you considered "she'll live" to be a jokey remark but just horribly tasteless, while "Give me money, or the girl dies" was obviously a joke to you even if it wasn't really funny either. That's plain double standards.
It's nice that you all like RBJ so much, but keep thinking with your own heads.

To be fair, it's a little different when coming from the person who makes the request in the first place. Not to mention that it's also good marketing; before the thread was stickied it helped draw people's attention (like mine).
