I don't think RK is being a dick here. Apparently his reaction stems from the fact that RBJ's post is full of cheap tricks straight out of a salesman's handbook. That he (RBJ) decided to play Mr Smart instead of genuinely asking for help speaks volumes about his attitude towards you people.

To be fair, RBJ's post is only partly "cheap-tricky"- mostly in the title, which I admit made me think of something completely different, as well as the picture tugging further heartstrings, which I assume was unintentional on RBJ's part. Other than that I saw nothing overly abrasive.
BR#'s mistake was in making the "she'll live" comment. While caring for his invalid mother is a valid excuse to not donate, he could've just left it that or possibly even have given moral support/cheerleading, such as our other numbered friend did. Instead he chose to make his insensitive comment, then when people got upset at him he just swirled his brandy and said "heh! I'll fight indignation with pointed sarcasm! That'll show them, indeed indeed. Quite." Because he has nobody else in smoking jackets to agree with him.
Diabetes is pretty frequently in our family, it's prevalant on my dad's side (my dad has it and it killed my aunt on Christmas Day 1999) and another aunt on my mother's side, who isn't blood-related (i.e. she's the wife of my mother's brother) also has it, and so does at least one her children. While I cannot afford to donate I'm totally behind this.
I'll pass on the lycra shorts.

Have some of you people not been paying attention for the past 9 years to not know that I'm barely serious most of the time? If you pull out the stick that's firmly planted in your ass you'll plainly see that my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I wrote that intro. Some of you need to work on your over-the-top-literary-dramatic-license-recognition skills.
Look, I am humbled that any of you are willing to donate at all, and really appreciate even just the words of encouragement and approval. I planned on having a couple of threadshitters, so that doesn't phase me, but I wasn't planning on this much positive feedback. I'm really touched. My feelings are heartfelt and honest on that front, you guys are the best. And she's asked me to tell Enchantermon that that was sweet (not flirting ;)), to tell Queue that it's ok, she prefers redheads too. :erg:
But in case any of you are wondering about my sincerity: I really am holding her hostage, and I'm just hoping she doesn't chew through the gag during the walk.
