I know that invisibility would probably make the game a lot easier, but I guess that there would be a situation or two where it would be needed. I was thinking of doing it mosty without it, but buying it just in case there was a situation I coudn't do without it.
I'm not gonna try it right now, I've already completed the game twice, just in case I wanna replay it again and try something different. I was thinking of doing it so nobody spots me, not even the alarmed status, just avoiding enemies whenever I can. I just don't know if every quest can be finished that way (some can, like that where you have to either throw the guy of the roof or plant drugs on him).
About othe augmentations, I was thinking in taking mostly those to get around easier (hacking (not maxing it, since that makes hacking very easy), jump, fall down, moving heavy objects, wall punch, see through walls).

Just for clarity - I got the Ghost achievement on a section where I was never seen so no one was alerted, but I did silently take down all of the enemies that I felt were in my way.

which price ? the energy RECHARGES by itself. I finished my first playthrough with no purchases at all besides strength, jump, stealth1 and hack2. the game is just too easy imo. the only hard bits are where they force you to play "their" style instead of your own.
YOU CAN HIT A BIG DADDY WITH A WRENCH AND THEN WHEN HE KILLS YOU YOU CAN RESPAWN AT A VITA CHAMBER AND THEN HIT HIM WITH A WRENCH AGAIN UNTIL HE KILLS YOU AGAIN AND YOU CAN JUST REPEAT IT UNTIL HE'S DEAD AND THAT MEANS BIOSHOCK HAS NO CHALLENGE

Yes I know about that, but I'm not talking about getting that Ghost XP bonus, I'm talking about ghosting the game Thief style.
Those bonuses are messed up, on my last game I got a couple of them although I shot everything that moved.

I wouldn't necessarily assume it's 100% possible, but it's certainly at least partially possible. Obviously you can't ghost the boss fights, but ...well, fuck the boss fights, they're stupid anyway.
Most, if not all, missions (i.e. non-hub locations) should be completable without being spotted or interacting with enemies in any way.
Doesn't hurt to try, anyway.

I think some (side)quests require you to interact with someone (
a few of Detroit sidequests require you to knock someone out), but I think that can be an exception to the ghosting rules because the game requires from you to do it (OK, those are sidequest and you don't actually HAVE to do them, but I always like to complete all the sidequests).
I'm gonna try it, but probablly not right now, after completing HR twice I have this urge to play DE again, maybe I should try ghosting that.

There's a guy who's done a zero KO/takedown ghost playthrough and put it up on youtube; it's (
http://www.youtube.com/user/goliathvt#p/c/FD417A92D36DA2CA) here.
The segments are kinda long; I haven't watched much of it, but he does it without even using cloak.
It seems like EM put some thought into making such a playthrough possible, even if there's no trophy for it, which is kinda cool.

By old school thief standards its easy even without cloak or the less than useful stealth augment package that shows you their cone of vision and ect. Granted I obsessively ghosted all the thief games dozens of times so maybe it comes easier to me. That said it was a lot of fun, if not challenging, and gives me hope for thief 4.
