non-ti. the performance gain is not worth the increased cost (for the ti). the non-ti is the current sweet spot.

When this confounded test has finished putting my memory through its paces I'll venture onto the net and take an examination of the offerings.

Mem test was fine.
Ordered a 660.
I've got a temp measuring program - my CPU is getting up to 97 degrees C!
Too late, gfx card on the way!
But I have to check this out. That's way too high isn't it? My GPU only gets to 67 degrees C.

Heat sink wasn't clamped on properly. And it's also the stock heatsink.
I think I'll get another.

* Good
* I'm surprised you didn't fry it good and proper - very lucky. This will have been the sole reason for the issues youv'e been having.
* that's a nice load temp for a 460!
* The 660 is a nice card, if you have the space, a spare pci-e slot and a beefy enough PSU - you could use the 460 as a physx only card :-)

Still getting the Planetside2 crashes but the max temp is now in the 70s.
The whole machine seems a little smoother.

No error codes.
Planetside has stopped working. Windows is trying to find a solution. No solution found.
I've ordered a new HD, gfx card and heatsink.
Order of play:
1. Install new hardware.
2. clean install on the HD
3. Rearranging of my drives and files.
Roll on Monday.

Ok, be interesting to see if the issues are fixed with a different/new card...

... Windows experience index is ...
What the fuck is this !? Sounds like "Ministry of truth" or "Ethics committee" (one of our political parties actually has that) etc.
After a bit of googling i found it too, for me:
* Calculations per second: 7.5
* Memory operations per second: 7.9
* Desktop performance for Windows Aero: 7.9 (well, Aero and other such garbage [for me] was the very first thing i got rid of).
* 3D business and gaming graphics performance: 7.9
* Disk data transfer rate: 5.9 (no SSD i presume)
Well, i suppose it has its uses (the numbers are sort of standardized and hence, besides the appalling lingo, at least somewhat comparatively indicative of something).
