I hope this doesn't mean I can't finish Bioshock 2 from where I left off 3 years ago...
And what could possibly be wrong with Uplay?????!
Earlier this week I was looking for a save game file for Far Cry 3 because I missed one of the Social Club "hallucination" levels on my second playthrough. Turns out save game files are tied to your Uplay account, meaning you can't use a save game file provided by someone else. Throw in no manual save, no chapter select, hey, no money from me in the future lol

Supposedly BioShock 2 and the Arkham games are going to have GFWL patched out of them in the relatively near future. Haven't heard a peep about any other games, though.

(

Red Faction: Guerrilla is the only game that I'll be particularly angry about not being able to play, but DoWII and Chaos Rising will be pretty annoying too.

Liar. Far Cry 3 supports manual save outside of missions.
F9 = Quicksave
F11 = Quickload

It's only quicksave in the sense that you can choose *when* to save, reloading it still boots you to the beginning of a mission/checkpoint/etc.

Evabot is being especially obnoxious tonight.

So I'm going to ask a total n00b question now as I've never played anything using GFWL before: when this service shuts down, does every non-updated game just stop working completely?
For example, Bulletstorm is listed on that NeoGAF link as "requires GFWL for activation, so will die if GFWL dies and are not patched." But say the game was already installed and activated on one's computer at the time, will it suddenly just not run anymore? Or would you still be able to play it in that case and they only mean you wouldn't be able to install/activate it anymore?

Bulletstorm uses GfWL's DRM, or did at least the last time I booted it up. It won't let you continue with the game until it's signed in to GfWL.
Edit: though you can use an offline profile, I think. But it still needs the profile linked to the activation key, and that's gonna be a bugger to get going in 2014 unless it's patched.

I just tried it with no network connection and it signed me in to GfWL in offline mode and allowed me to continue my game.

Another n00b question: I assume this means you won't be able to earn achievements after that date any more either?
Just thinking of my half-finished DoW2 campaign here...
