Ok, I've done a bit of research...
Looks like (as we already know) getting old games to run in OSX is a pain. No way around it. Lots of studios and companies make OSX compatible updates. Sadly, we don't have one. So, it looks like the first sensible option to try is emulation. I've researched these emulators and it seems everyone considers Mini-Vmac to be a very high quality EMU, but I haven't seen any screens of it running SShock-era looking software, So I'm not sure. You can grab it from here:

Also, Basilisk II may be more modern, yet has no sound apparently:

Give those a try and see if you get anywhere. I believe the source is available for both, and if we can rope someone with some decent coding skills we could possibly resolve the issue. Let us know how it goes.

[edit] I just had a thought. If this was happening on a PC, we'd say graphics drivers immediately, and standard Radeon drivers (esp. old ones) are known for being shit. Has anyone tried this with something besides an ATI chipset? [/edit]

Did you find anything about Mac-Emulators for PC possibly?
I'd like to give that MacVersion a try...
EDIT: It's just too easy playing it from Windows. :o

alrighty then... I've played around with both vmac and bas. and neither works. The problem is that shock only works on PPC's and since neither of the emulators emulates PPC it's a lost cause. Vmac haven't even got real quicktime support it seems. BasiliskII would let me install Shock and then gave me an error code that I believe I saw when I played around with the extensions in OS classic. How to install some new extensions into Bas. I don't know. It would require me to make an image with OS 7.5 on and then maybe install Quicktime 2.5 on it. I haven't tried making images in OS X before but I'll see what I can do.
When I did get Quicktime 2.5 i tried installing it in Classic, but it seems like Classic is pretty attached to qt6. I'll have to manually replace the qt6 extensions with the qt2.5 extension to see if that will make any difference. Problem is though that I can't access the .archive files that the qt2.5 install program uses. If you happen to find the following two extension downloadable please let me know:
quicktime 2.5 (only the extension)
quicktime powerplug 2.5 (also only the extension)
or if any one knows how to access the .archive files it would really help me out.
Another thing with the emulation is that you need a Rom image which is or borders on being illegal. I don't mind personally but I just thought it would be fair to let everyone know that.
To sum it up: vmac wont work, basiliskII is unlikely to as well, so we are back to classic.

hey FG.
thanks for the links I'll take a long look at them. But as I've said I haven't got that much time on my hands now with school starting again. But I'll see what I can do. And I'll definately post here or PM you if something comes up!

I think you got me wrong...I have played SS1 on my win98 machine without any problems. So it's really easy. My sense of adventure is right here with me. :)

I am still waiting for my Mini, but I would suggest that someone try out SheepShaver. It is a Mac Classic environment origionallyfor BeOS. There is now a stable linux version and, from what I hear a quit decent version for windows and OSX.
