Yeah, it's an anomaly, not a bug. They are particularly hard to avoid in that lab though, go very carefully, and use your bolts. There is an artifact which adds 30% burn resistance but it's quite rare. It might also be worth finding armour with good burn protection, any of the scientist suits will do nicely. If they're killing you in one hit from full health, your armour's not up to scratch. If you've got any slime/slug/mica equipped, unequip it, it reduces burn protection.

I wasn't playing with aliVe mod back then, it was vanilla 1.0005.
With aliVe it's very easy to find, a bunch of Elite Bandits always spawns at the place where you have to go to find the Freedom spy in Military Warehouses. One of them should be the dude with Storming Obokan.

One more tip about the burning anomaly. When you "activate" it with a bolt, you can run through the fire without losing health. I use this trick all the time, definitely quicker than spending time avoiding each anomaly.

IMO, the anomalies are one of the best atmospheric devices in the game. When I first played Stalker, I was throwing bolts like mad every few metres or so, but then after a while you get a 'feel' for them, and can just go running around most of em. Then you got to the Dark Valley lab and there are snorks chasing you and then the goddamn burners and fuck.

From the start of development, anomalies was supposed to be almost invisible (but audible) while not trigerred, so bolts were much more helpful back then, in the final version they're more like anachronism.
