Strange. It works wonderfully for me.
But where else can one find this armor? I've only found it in the hotel room.

The scientist suits are good for environment hazards, but for combat I like the military suit you find in Pripyat, 55% bulletproof cap and you can still sprint.
Yes, I think it's the best suit in the game. For general use I mean, as it's the most balanced one. AFAIR, it costs 160k. I would prefer it over Exo (which costs 200k) anywhere except inside NPP and beyond probably.

I knew the green scientist suit was better than the SEVA...

Yeah, its like the best armor you can get while retaining movement. I think it was just bugged in my case, as it literally felt like I was naked (I took off my armor and couldnt tell a difference), two shots in chernobyl would kill me, if not 1.

The armor is very useful for packrats. You can go back to the Garbage and it'd be a real challenge for the bandits to kill you, not vice versa like at the start of the game.
The exoskeleton is good for indoor areas or when you aren't under pressure, like outside the NPP where you have to battle time and win. If that time limit wasn't in place I'd just take my time and kill the bad guys one after another. (hm, I wonder if such a mod exists)
Btw, I launched STALKER earlier today after months of away time from the Zone. Me and my military armor went to the Garbage and Agroprom and pwned some bandits for ammo and supplies, then we went underground after midnight and found 2 Moonlights and 3 Flash. :D
Even 3 Moonlights and 2 Flash aren't enough to make me able to sprint infinitely when carrying 50+ kgs of stuff. . . :erg:

If you're seriously having trouble with armour, the hidden merc suit at the very beginning of the game is a godsend, that thing carried me through to my first full-blown Stalker suit. It's really hard to get to, however, and you can't even break the crate it's in until you talk to Wolf. By the time you get to your first Stalker suit, your merc suit should be nearly worthless, so dump it. It's not worth getting repaired (if you're using the repair mod, which I've done an (
http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Repair_Mod_English_Edit;87508) English edit for) by that point, particularly not by the Barkeep, who charges more than Sid. You could probably sell it for a couple hundred bucks, though, if you're hurting for cash.

Selling stuff is preferable to throwing it away.

True, but if you're like me and you're not willing to go to the trouble of lugging 400 pounds of shit...

I don't have the patience to run back and forth many times, I'll admit that...
