Get ready for Bioshock........... - by BrokenArts

A story set in a ruined underwater libertarian paradise could be fun. But a lot of Bioshock's trappings didn't even make sense for a game, let alone a film -- particularly the little sisters -- so hopefully they won't stick too closely to the source material.

Bioshock's world was so absolutely nonsensical, good luck to anyone trying to wring a coherent narrative from it.

I think I'd just lean into the craziness. The best narratives of Bioshock were the various whackos. E.g., Sander Cohen.

I'm sure it's going to start with the establishment of the place and the early days, and it'll be a slow roll into the craziness. That should be a little easier to make a narrative out of. The game kind of started after most of the main story itself had already ended.
My intuition is it'll be like how Altered Carbon was made into a show, as in not the best fit, but they'll make something work and it'll be nice to look at. And I think if we go into it with low expectations it has a chance to do better than we expect.

Oh god Altered Carbon was terrible.

Yeah, I should have been more explicit that that's the subtext to my post.
Like if you go into it expecting it to be that bad, then it'll get a boost just by not being quite so bad.
I don't know what I'm talking about though. I should just say I think it has a better chance focusing on the social dynamics & dramas of rich people living in an underwater city than what the game actually did with that concept.

I got the sub-text and was agreeing.
Have there been any films / TV shows of gaming franchises that have turned out well?

I reckon Dishonored would have good potential for a show...
As for existing ones, the Witcher TV show on Netflix is pretty good.
